do you want a copy of a software based proxy server I wrote called e-proxy?

If you don't work for it, how do you expect to get it?

have you tried using the CD to install the Network Software? i had that same problem with WinME until i installed the ME networking updates...

i still can't have more than one machine on the net at a time with XP thought - but thats actually because of AOL, as it doesn't support XP/.Net internet sharing (only thing that really piss's me off about AOL)

i wouldn't mind to try that Proxy+ thought Toady

thats good toady... but perhaps an URL in the right direction would help use useless at navigating the internet eh

Kale i use AOL cause its the only truely international ISP there is - i can connect via my UK account using local numbers whereever i am in the world - which isn't bad for £16/month and no call charges (in the states its almost double that)

but then i do have an AT&T account as well, but its a bit useless as i can ONLY use that at home ... i can use the email whereever but its an OC255 connection, with the network info setup on the computer. doesn't entitle me to the Dial-up or Broadband dialers

ho hum - then again i've never really had any beefs with AOL, connection used to be pretty useless ... but that was like 2years ago, its pretty good now - i only get a netcrash every month if that

Personaly I have a Linux box sitting between my network and the internet, connected via cable modem.

The benefit over this as compared to a traditional proxy server is that it acts as a firewall for security - but in addition to that it also supports IP Masquerading which standard proxy servers dont.

What's that?

Well, it lets me connect multiple computers to the same internet game on the same connection - so next time you get beaten by one of my psuedonyms in that game you love - now you know why Who needs aim bots...

oh hell yeah Pneu... when you setup a true Server to the net, where you expect to be on all the time a Unix based machine is just unbeatable
However Windows .Net Server is actually getting alot better - problem is setting it up, i mean AOL doesn't like Unix/Linux ... and when i say it doesn't like it, i mean the thing throws a 2yo style tantrum.
So for alot of people its not an option (especially in the states where most companies use thier own dialer program)

what i'm using at home is Windows Server 2000 (not been able to grab .Net yet) its pretty good for this kinda thing and AOL works fine with it, probably because it doesn't use XPs lockdown IP firewall.
