Will be a new version of the SDK coming soon bringing it in line with the latest version of DB Pro.

Before it is released I will be working on supporting VS 2005. I would like to get a few people on board for testing so we can sort out any potential problems before release. If you would like to help with testing please let me know - mike@thegamecreators.com

Where's all the people that was asking for 2005 support? Sorry, but I'm using 2003 here. I just would like to know a non-contracting schedule for any update. That would be nice.

Another question is if the SDK update is going to overpass DBPro 5.9 functionality and then take the "lead"?

I can try it, but won't have time for at least 3-4 weeks (got too much paying work to do)...

@Morcilla

I should be getting a copy of visual studio (pretty sure 2003) soon, is there some problem with it and DarkSDK?

Im really excited to convert to c++, but ive seen some things on this forum that frighten me...

All you need is zeal

Vs 2003 is fine with DarkSDK, but to be honest, there is no real point in not going for VS 2005...

Yeah, I do not see any specific problem with 2003.

This sounds exciting. When you say VS 2005, do you mean the Express edition as well?

I'd love to be a tester, but I haven't bought the SDK yet.

Thanks for the update Mike!

mmm. Will the static objects from patch 5.9 (I think they were unoficial commands or something like that) make it to the DGDK? When I used DBC I loved those guys.

My signature has been erased by me because it's LARGE.
Thank you for the votez!1!

No problem with also being able to support VS 2005, but I think it would be a big mistake if it wasn't also compatible with VS 2003. If you have to make a choice, please stick with VS 2003.
I think a lot of us probably don't jump right on the bleeding edge releases from Microsoft. It's better to wait until SP/2 comes out, and the bugs are fixed. Otherwise, problems in VS 2005 might look like problems in your code.
I also suspect VS 2005 will be backwards compatible with VS 2003. But - VS 2003 will likely not be forwards compatible with VS 2005.
Bottom line - given the cost of Virtual Studio, I'm not about to trash my investment quite yet... It isn't quite as simple as upgrading to the latest version of DirectX.

Hi Willy,

Good news for you; Dark Game SDK is compatible with VS C++ 2003!

you can find system requirements on the page of Dark Game;

I think he was asking for the new, updated, DGDK,
which will support VS2005.
(as for now, it wont work with VS2005, but the update should work,
so he was asking if the new version is STILL compatible with VS2003)

i would have to agree with those who don't see any pressing need for taking the time to provide and validate VS2005...

getting the sdk out to those who are waiting for a solid api, either licensed or prospective licensees would seem to be a more immediate concern and priority...

And then there are those with only VS 2005, whereupon a compatiable DarkSDK would be rather useful...

true... but they haven't already licensed it, paid their money, and have been waiting as long as those who have...

i didn't say don't do... i just said get it to those already licensed and waiting, would seem to be the logical priority...

It is my honest opinion that doing a vs2005 version of dsdk (if you have the sources) is a 15 minutes job. Getting it to work with vs 2005 _express_ (which I dearly hope they do) may take a while longer, but I'd still be looking at hours here - not days.

How's that for sitting on the fence?
