They dont need the SDK to be installed - just the latest version of DirectX

Not 100% correct Stinky. With the latest DirectX SDK on your computer, your users will need a dll of DirectDraw in order to run games.

To prevent this, I'm using DXSDK Oct 2004 if I recall correctly.

Eh ? DirectDraw hasn't be used in years - well, as soon as DX9 came along.

All you should need is the DX redist.

Vlad I've downloaded the DirectX End-User Runtime (February 2006) Web Installer and my programs started to work in my friend's computers!

Sure, I understand what you mean, but I prefer to send the exe to test or play without needing them to download or me to send them anything else.

With the DXSDK I'm using I'm not loosing any functionality that I know of and any one with person using DX9.0c needs nothing else from me but to launch the executable.

I'm not saying you guys are wrong, what I'm saying is that there's an easy way to do it. Imagine you have the possibility of selling your game, imagine you have a 5MB limit, and imagine you have a DX9.0C pre-req. With this I only need to have DXSDK Oct04. I have no runtime overhead in size, no other special pre-req, everything is easy and smooth.

Stinky, yeah, you are probably right and I'm messing something for sure, I'm preety new to most of this technology from the programmer point of view. I started a thread about this somewhere.
