Well ive been having a tough time off it with my PNY Geforce 4600ti . In 3 months of owning it ,it has been bust for about 2. Ihave looked up some forums and it seems there are numerous complaints about PNY's cooling and a dodgy batch of onboard ram. I have since asked for my money back from DAB's and was wondering if any of you lot could suggest a decent card in the £250 range that i should purchase?? bearing in mind that the only FX card ive read a review on was made by ..... you guessed it ... PNY

Creative cards are the best for Games ... they usually run on homegrown drivers and are generally more comptible than other makes because of this.

you can get something quite outstanding for £250 from Watford Electronics
and they plan to sell GeForce FX Mx very soon which will be WELL worth it - as all they are, are slower GeForce FX Ultra/Ti's
i'm not sure (cause i've not checked in a few days) but if you can afford a Quadro, GET ONE

I have Gigabyte's Maya II - Radeon 9700 pro based card.
It's only rock'n'roll.
The only problem I have is to know if my DBPRo programs will be as fast in other computers as they are in mine.

Im swaying towards a Radeon 9700 pro . Are they not meant to run a lot cooler because of the lower clock speeds? and apparently the speed difference between that and the 5800 ultra is marginal at the moment (although no doubt that will change once dx9 is utilised). Also the 9700 has been out longer so the price has dropped considerably.

somedays i kinda wonder though why people don't buy directly from nVidia like myself... they've simply got the best versions of thier cards

have GeForce 4 Ti 4600, Quadro2 550, Quadro4 XGL 900, GeForce FX 660 (nv30 beta c), Quadro FX 2000 from them ... they're quite cheap and i've never had any problems at all, but the GeForce2 mx 200 i have which i got from Power3D the Fan on it has brokendown so many times its beyond a joke.
Luckily the card is cool enough to run without it for upto a week without perminant damage - but still is annoying.

if you ever have £1,200 get yourself a Quadro FX 2000, its essentially a GeForce FX with Quadro extensions - but considering the GeForce FX (nv30) runs at 1Ghz, this card has 2layer version of the same processor with OpenGL specific extensions & it runs at 2Ghz
i'm gonna love seeing how the FireGL 5 is going to keep up with even the pure raw power of that card hehee

lol I have to agree with Raven.

Anyway, I'm picking up a cheap All-In-Wonder for my comp right now, just to tide me over till I get my new comp For that it'll be either FX or 9700 Pro, unless something is better out then!

Raps in around a months time the GeForce FX Mx range is released...

GeForce FX 560mx has identical features to the GeForce FX 520Ti, only different will be the price tags and speed
mx 350Mhz - $150 ; ti 600Mhz - $600

but essentially apart from the major speed difference its has everything the top end one does - and the Mx is still a good 15% faster than the 4600ti

Hey check it http://65.54.168.250/cgi-bin/linkrd?_lang=EN&lah=671a205c71d3df209084ad6913bd1b60&lat=1048062919&hm___action=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2esavastore%2ecom%2fitem%3f21174254%26itemcode%3d10262161MSi GeForce4 4800 Ti only for £149 (+free delivery within 3-5days)

not the most powerful on the market i'll warrent you, however MSi is probably one of THE more reliable you can get your grubby hands on
and you'd have £110 left over, which if you pay not they're doing a special deal on 6.1 Surround Sound Speakers + Diamond Sonic Blue Set for under £100
or you could grab some extra ram.

[edit-]
Rich gonna have to have to do something about the recognised characters within the links - as it should recognise the whole link after the '=' to the ']' but it doesn't which is confusing
