I am looking for a way to get backbuffer info without the programmer having to lock the backbuffer and all just to initiate my dll

I didnt fail, I just found 10,000 ways that don't work

Just a guess, but you could probably get a pointer to the GlobStruct, and use the pHoldBackBufferPtr member.

Alternatively load up DBProSetupDebug.dll and call any of the backbuffer related functions.
