The first thing you should learn is probably C++ or another programming language other than DB(P). There are a lot of books on C++, many which are designed for complete beginners. Then you'll need a compiler, such as MS Visual C++. Even though Visual C++ costs money, it is better than trying to find a tutorial on these forums for creating a DLL with another compiler. The rest can be found in the Help Files of DBP, in the 'Technical Documents' area.

EDIT: I just found a link for making a dll in C++ for DarkBASIC using Dev-C++. I havn't completely tested it, but if it works it could allow for you to use the much cheaper Dev-C++. Here's the link: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=48738&b=10

I recommend using CodeBlocks(an ide) because it is a much better ide
than dev and it supports multiple compilers very easy
