I seem to remember a post from way back that showed a link to a website that had a method of running a very basic DBP program without using DirectX. It obviosly didn't use any commands that specifically need DX.

Now I was wondering if Walaber's newton wrapper actually needs DX to run? If not then in theory a person could write a basic application without using any DX commands that could maintain a newton world.

Opinions please?

Yeah I think it might be possible to do that. Usually we want Newton rigid bodies to be associated with DBPro objects, but it's possible to have rigid bodies without 3D objects associated to them visually.

Just don't use any of the commands to associate bodies to objects, and you should be safe. Oh and don't use the debug function either.

BTW, what fun is physics if you can't see it happening?

I'm not a real programmer but I play one with DBPro!

I will see it happening, I'm trying to get a newton world running that I can view from a client program over a network connection. Basically a prototype server for my little multiplayer space sim.

If it works I'll re-code the server using C++ to run the newton world but prototyping is faster with DBP.
