Get Lithunwrap on Simple's website(from VanSimple Design *plug*plug*
)
It's a pure texturing program contrarly to Nendo/Mirai which're basically the modelers that inspired Wings3D...
I would suggest using the .OBJ format for exporting which is by very far the best format available for 3d meshes.
After opening it in Lithunwrap,you may get a warning message saying the object lacks UVcoordinates or something,pass it anyways since Lithunwrap is made to apply those to a model
Few tips for planar mapping in Lith:
Get into the Groups selection mode and SELECT ALL
Go in the tools menu and choose mapping planar,leave the settings as they are except for the projection angle which determinates from which of the X,Y and Z angles the model's initial coordinates will be oriented to.
After that,you should be able to see the coordinates and start unwrapping it.
Whenever you want to apply a mapping to a specific group,remember that you can use the 3D realtime preview to actually select the faces/triangles and map them using the projection you want...there's also a 'Map View' function that'll lay the selection as it's shown in the preview window...
hope this helps.
Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
