i finished the model yesterday and topped off the texture today, and it looks pretty snazzy!

im quite proud of this, i actually composed a the wood texture in photoshop with filters, rather than a base image, was fun....and very interesting wood is usally hard, what with its stupid curves...

well anyway, enough mindless chit chat about photoshop, here it is, added a little orangy grunge almost like sand wear at the end at about 30% looks quite cool:

and with hands (whish i still havnt customized yet, so you must be getting pretty annoyed, brahh!!)

i knew i said i'd do the G36 next, and ecen the shotguns, but this just had to be made, but jackhammer shotgun should be next!

hope ya like!

heres a jackhammer image...

and some information on the jackhammer, for those who don't know what it is.

Quote: "The Pancor Corporation Jackhammer is a combat shotgun. It is a 12 gauge, gas-operated automatic weapon. It is one of very few fully automatic shotguns, and although patented in 1987, it never entered full scale production. Only a few working prototypes of the Jackhammer were ever built. Some sources state that only two fully automatic prototypes exist. In the late 1990s, the current owner of the design, Mark III, attempted to sell the patents, prototypes, and production rights for $350,000 (US). Nonetheless, its distinctive appearance and futuristic stylish design (which does not look like a typical shotgun) has made it popular in action television programs, films, and computer games"

Quote: " * Type: gas-operated, select-fire
* Gauge: 12
* Length: 787 mm
* Barrel length: 525 mm.
* Weight unloaded: 4.57 kg
* Capacity: 10 rounds in removable revolver-type drum magazine
* Rate of fire: 240 rounds per minute
"

Quote: "The weapon, excluding the barrel, is constructed largely of a rynite plastic in order to reduce weight. It features a bullpup layout to preserve a 525 mm barrel length in an overall 787 mm package. The gun is fed by a 10 round capacity center-rotating drum using conventional 12 Gauge cartridges. The gun weighs 4.57 kg and has a maximum rate of fire of 240 rpm. The drum's method of rotation is very similar to the Webley-Fosbery semi-automatic revolver.

The floating barrel is driven forward by gas pressure from the fired round. It is returned by a spring and moves the drum operating rod, breaking the tight seal between the barrel and the drum and allowing the drum to revolve to offer the next round. On the return stroke the barrel and drum are re-sealed allowing the round to be fired without loss of gas. Spent cartridges are not ejected, remaining in the magazine.

Planned future versions would carry a unique and distinctive feature: a magazine drum that can be used as an antipersonnel mine. Called "The Beartrap", it detonates by firing all 10 shotgun rounds simultaneously when it is triggered by the weight of a person stepping on it."

Quote: "The Jackhammer makes an appearance in the games:

* Battlefield 2
* Fallout 2
* SOCOM II: U.S. Navy Seals
* Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel
* Dead to Rights
* Far Cry
* Torn City
* Crimsonland
* Project IGI 1 and Project IGI 2
* The Wastes
* Conflict: Global Storm
* Max Payne
* Thing Thing Arena
* Delta Force: Land Warrior
* Soldner - Secret Wars
* Ecks Vs. Severe
* Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
* Deus Ex (with Shifter)
* Thing Thing 3
* Thing Thing Arena
* One of the prototypes was carried by an extra in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, who owned the gun at the time.

* The Jackhammer was also used by Michael Ironside's character in Total Recall during the cab chase scene on Mars.

* A gun called full auto shotgun is in the game True Crime: New York City. It strongly resembles the Jackhammer.

* A semi-automatic shotgun weapon in Planetside is also called the Jackhammer.

"

Really good work! I like the texture so much! Keep it up!

I noticed that if you type MK3A1 instead of Jackhammer to Google it gives you much more precise results. But still any of those images wasn't good enough.

thanks

yeh, i forgot about the precise model name and number, so MK3A1 may help later

zaibatsu, the second one looks pretty sharp and good on colour reference, shame its a bit small, though if nothing pops up i'll use that one, cheers

thanks, it wont be too expensive, im most likely lowering it to a reasonable price to match FPSC users' standards

just realise that on something like turbosquid, these could go for a much higher price and be seen as a bargain

yeh, tis' pretty good, i myself prefer the M4A1, with CT's, basically the exact stats, even with its longer reload time i could swear its more accurate with the silencer somehow lol

Side on images for uv mapping, not reference photos. Jon needs images of the gun so he can texture his.

nope, i need side reference for the shape of the gun, colour, height and feature reference for when i texture, has little to do with UV mapping, as all the segments are seperate, not a quick side planar map

zaibatsu, please remove that BF2 image, is too big and its stretching the page

well, people have been saying its $10 off FPSC itself, so i will be lowering it to about half the price, perhaps $25, i think thats £15 but who knows, im not completely set on it yet, but that sounds reasonable

sounds cool

right, not much luck on the jackhammer, but from the looks of it, i can make out most of the features, and if i take the time to play around in some games i could get a larger idea of its geometry, plus alot of the texture work seems easy, all metal and little weird shapes

offtopic- Do you have any other free weapons besides axe and plasma rifle?

OK here it is. It's a bit messed because I streched it bigger but it's better than most of those little ones. I'm not sure is it big enough though.

Great model, but again I have critisism. There is two versions of AK47 (excluding carbines): the orginal version and AKM. Orginal version isn't produced anymore. Here's an article about AKM: http://world.guns.ru/assault/as01-e.htm.
Also, barrel should end to front sight.
Keep working. I will buy your Core pak 2.

thanks, thats pretty much accurate to the reference pic i used, there are many variations, tis best to get the obvious shape and give it its well known name, but thanks for the suggestions and pointers

btw, i have finished modelling the MK3A1 JackHammmer i'll be unwrapping and texturing tommorow, might do a little UV mapping now while i have the chance

nah, i might do it very soon, jsut to see what it looks like, but i dont want peoples impressions from the screenshots, as my laptop isnt the best at graphical performance, and texture filtering is really bad, so i'll probably test it on ma' desktop later on.

Jon, these models are fantastic, but one thing..
Why are the finger and arms always black, dark and charcoaly?
I think you should have a go at re texturing the hands, just on one model to see how it looks, because not all fps's involve getting dirty and muddy
Cannot wait to buy this pack, keep up the fab work!

Really looking foward to this pack. I could really use it in my current game . Do you know how much it is going to be or when it is going to come out?

Also you should try making a M82 that would be sick

thanks, the price isnt really totally decided right now, it might be £15.00 and will probably be finished in about a week or something like that, still got a bit to do, and events occasionally pop up, but will be this summer

if the M82 is a sniper rifle, then yeh that would be cool, i like the look of that one, may do the AWP though, classic and powerful
