Coming soon. I wasn't gonna post anything until it was nearer completion. But I haven't posted a level design in ages and I was quite proud of this....

oh just to add, I still had maya and photoshop running when I took the screenies. Normal Fpsc 30-33, sometimes 29.

Thanks people.

I'm glad people like the work. I've started using pre-modelled buildings alot more, and I think it really adds to making levels look alot less boxy!

@Nigezu.

Hmm, Criminal Underworld, well. All the maps and media are still in tact, but I've been so busy on this project and work that it's kinda fallen to one side. If anyone would like to take on development of Criminal Underworld I'd be happy to send them the stuff.

@ Nigezu

You can eventually go inside the factory, but it goes a long way underground, so it's a separate level.

Some of my buildings can be entered. But I tend to keep them smaller, because its hard to place entities inside.

I just got a helicopter in game, that can have a guy stood in the door shooting!

@ Maeko.

Well thanks dude. Um, I think what I'll do is build them as full games and you can just extract the media, and mess with the files.

It was my first full project so it's kinda messy, and theres alotta crap that snaggles up the loading time. But I'll get it sorted and post it somehow.

It's okay, I too am messy. Very.. Very.. Messy. Mind you I make very detailed levels. So you can email the games to me so that nooboody else will take all of your well detailed LEVELS.

It sounds like Maeko only wants all the entities and other custom stuff that are in Criminal Underworld. Why don't you just release that stuff to everyone, Butters? That would be a really nice model/segment pack. You said in first post that this is ''nearer completion''. Can you say a release date? I understand if you can't say a exact day but even a month. And will this game be free?

Well, you know what nigezu, that's a really good idea. It might be quite difficult, cuz theres stuff in there from the model packs, so I'd have to just create this massive file!!

Oh well, I might do that. No offence Maeko, it's probably just fairer like that...

Oh and in response to your other question nigezu, Fall of the Fireflies episode 1 is coming on. The maps are finished, but now I'm starting the real work, with cut scenes and scripted events.

I couldn't say a date. Im gonna be working fulltime in august, so perhaps late september? If I can find a totally secure way to protect my media I will release a demo before that.

anyhoo.

Megapack coming soon.

You should buy FPSPack it secures the files quite good of what i have understood and its cheap too, just $19.95.

Your screenies looks very good man! Those shrubs and the coronas really adds atmosphere to the maps. And i also find the door built with pieces of corrugated sheets very cool. This is a game i cant wait to play. Is it going to be free or commersial?

Free for the lite version.

Pay for the full version.

(lite has no cutscenes or music, and you cannot access the custom media, full has music, cuts and you can freely use the media)

Anyway, here are some more screenies from the same location. New building, with really nice UV mapping...if I do say so myself..

Of course you can continue with it, Maeko. And now it's really fair because everyone who wants can get those models.

Really good work, Butters! What is that gun in those screenies? I can't see it very well because screenies are quite dark. Not too dark though.

well... It's kind of an AK.

The whole game is set at ground zero of a nuclear explosion that took place 10 years prior to the game. Weapons are in short supply, this is the weapon of choice for North Korean Militia, it's a kind of AK clone, but not really an AK.

Most of the weapons in the game are kinda alternate-modernday.

LOL, I was material testing when I took these shots (making sure everything reacted with the right decal and damage when it got hit), so I needed alot of ammo!

Sorry if that scared you!!

You start the level with 2 mags for the Combat Rifle and an RPG. All weapons and equipment must be taken from those you kill, or scavenged.

Butters, very impressive screens mate Definitely some of the best custom segments anyone's showcased to date.

BTW, did you get my email with the resized, bigger VWEAP? It might be just the odd angle caused by the reload anim, but that looks like the original Uzi-sized version in the last screen shot.

Looking forward to seeing more!

Cheers

Yes the electric decals are animated.

I should have put a credit for that but I forgot, so

Cheers to Bengie for his sprite pack!

Thanks Havok and GPS, I really appreciate the compliments.

I'm starting to tie all the levels together now, and add pickups and NPCs

Trailer soon.

Peace

Thankyou to everyone for your support with the trailer thread. I'm going to keep the two separate, so that suggestions and comments on the game itself dont get mixed up with questions about the trailer.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Today has been a good day. As you can see from some of the above screens, I have been trying very hard to simulate light propperly. I've been playing alot of Black, which, in my opinion has some of the best lighting I've seen (please no off topic comments about other game's lighting).

Anyway, I have been trying to copy that style since I first played black , and today I started a church level, and at the same time completed my new light decals. I know it's not close to Black, but I think it's pretty freakin good for FPSC, especially as it keeps 33fps the whole time!

check it out

edit- @Nick Wroblewski

hey dude, thanks for the praise... but I'm a little confused. I didn't really make my level from ww2 and scifi stuff. Cuz 90% of it isn't stock media!

Yoink!

The sunset bunker level is coming along nicely, I refined the light rays and made them slightly softer and less pixelated, also stopped them shaking and gave them a gentle sway. I think they look much better... These shots are taken in the aftermath of the initial assault...!
