I created this game for the Caiman Total Pack 2006 competition. Centering around a packaging machine theme, Packin' Plax pays homage to the arcade hit, Klax.

DESCRIPTION

"In short, the objective of the game is to group the various plaques ("Plax") so that three or more of the same colored plax are connected either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Once this is done, the matching group of plax will automatically be packaged up and ready for shipment.

Be careful though, if you fill up the entire stacking table before a match is made, or if you let too many plax fall to the ground because you miss catching them, you'll be fired!"

FEATURE OVERVIEW

Some of the key features of Packin' Plax include:

• An infinite amount of progressively difficult stages

• 12 collectable objects including bonuses, dangers, and power-ups

• Up to 10 different color variations of plax depending on how far you get

• High score system and options which are seamlessly integrated into the environment

• 10 in-game music themes (so hopefully the music won't become too repetetive)

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

(Recommended Requirements)

• 2.4GHZ Processor
• 512MB RAM
• 128MB Video Card
• DirectX 9.0C

(Minimum Requirements)

• 1.0GHZ Processor
• 128MB RAM
• 32MB Video Card
• DirectX 9.0C

[ This game may still work at specs lower than the ones listed above ]

Well done for becoming PC Zone's Freeware game of the month in Jan 2007's issue which I got in post today. You got almost a whole page writeup aswell as game being put on cover DVD, although I would have thought they asked your permission before they could put it on coverdisk.

Well done anyway.

This game is very nice! It has a clean look, and I really love the gameplay. I've been playing it for some time now. I'm gonna keep this game on my PC.

Good job on this game xCept!

Wow, thanks for that information Spooky! I wish I could get a hold of that magazine but since I'm US-based it might be difficult, is there any chance you might be able to scan in the page with the write-up on it and e-mail it to me or post it here?

My game is also expected to be featured in the next issue of the Germany magazine "SCREENFUN" on December 20th which reportedly is sent to 160,000 subscribers.

Thanks for all of the comments everyone.

P.S., I've just been told that my hosting service is going belly-up just two months after I purchased the service and thus as of today my site will be unavailable for a little while until I find another capable host.

xCept congrats on getting your game in magazines. If I couldn't make any money off a game I was making (freeware either by my choice, or the people's choice ) then having it done up in a magazine article is the next best thing. If I were you I'd get some hard copies and frame those bad-boys, german and all.

Good job and good game too.

I'm not a real programmer but I play one with DBPro!
