It's all the same area as such. This is from the more sewerish, grungy part of the tunnels (at the end section of the level). As for the floor texture, it's a fair point, but i thought it was a good texture that would fit the kind of, run down, grungy feel. Ill have to make some more textures for the slums level of course.

Thanks, the linear problem has kind of been sorted out, but it's ever so hard to overcome completely due to some of the limitations involving FPSC. Also, im not 100% sure on the idea of free-roaming and 'large' scale puzzles due to it might ruin a few things, but ill write it down on my 'maybe' list.
@General announcement: Unfortuneatly, I am back to work from tomorrow onwards, so i might be a bit more tied up than usual, but ill make sure ill squeese in as much game dev as possible over the weekends and at the end of the week. I should be ready to start on level 4 (slums), as soon as level 3 is polished.
