Oh my dear! How did so many people post before my last comment! It was supposed to follow on from someone saying that people might like to see the particles! Now it doesn't make any sense at all! Darn you fast posters! Looks awesome and I can't wait to try it out.

Ok!

I have a little announcement, and it will be up to you to decide if it's good or bad. See, the multiplayer part is wroking, but it has some glitches, and I want the demo to be perfect. However, I did not want to go against my word and make the demo release later. So instead, how would you guys like a demo in an indoor map I'm creating, a lightmapped castle map? It would not be online, but you can test all the physics out all you want, and explore the complex level. That ok? I'm sorry I couldn't get more done in time.

I think any demo from this would rock...

just curious though. Is this going to be pause/saveable?

If so, how would saving be implemented? If not, how long would you think a typical game would take?

You'd Forget you header if it wasn't compiled on!

Hmm....since we plan on making it both single player and mutliplayer (I'm going to get Dark AI maybe), the multiplayer part would not have pausing as the game would get out of sync, but I'm sure I could make it pause in single player mode. I'm not sure about saving, and it's really hard to tell how long the game will last for two reasons:

1. It's not done yet, so we can't tell!
2. We are kind of changing the structure of the game to be different from what I posted in the post, so I'm not sure how things are going to work out. I think the old method we were going to do would probably take about an hour, and the newer method would be short, quicker rounds.

Sorry I can't answer you question precisely.

No, it could be the efficiency of my modeling program, or maybe because I have a geforce 7950GT.

But I have seen maps made from this editor on slower computers, and it is perfectly smooth in DBP, so I'm not worried about the fps.

The one I saw it on had a geforce 6200, so I'm sure it'll be ok, even on lower cards than that.

The single part will have basically nothing. You will be able to try all the weapons and explore the level, but untill I get Dark AI, there is no single player part.

Uncle Sam - Hope you get DarkAI soon, it is really quite awsome. I'm using it in my Nvidia entry and in about 15 minitues I got the base system up and running, really easy to use.

And those screens look nice

Sam seems to be scarce online lately, so here's the deal. We wanted to have the demo ready and out a few days ago, but ran into some snags. We really thought it would have been ready by now, but it may not be for awhile, as we have to rework some stuff. Hopefully soon, but no guarantees. I think the plan is to get some single player stuff done, perhaps with bots in the indoor level he posted screenshots of, or something similar.

Real sorry guys Christmas really slowed stuff down, while we thought we'd have more time with breaks from school and all (go figure). Anyhow, thanks for the support and interest in the project. Hopefully we can get something to you soon.

Doh! Sorry for my absence. Like Dink said, Christmas just took all the time up, and I've been away a lot at people's houses and other places. Sorry I wasn't able to get it up.

It's not that I don't have it ready. I have a test level and several weapons to try. But I really wanna polish it off before I put it up so that it's at its best for you guys.

I'll also admit that it's REALLY hard to code because I got COD2 for Christmas, so when I AM home, all I wanna do is relax and do some serious gaming.

Good news though. I also got Dark AI for Christmas, so once I get it working maybe there can be some bots to test the weapons on in the demo.

Sorry again guys. I'll say that it certainly was my fault and not Dink's that the demo is delayed.

Well, I decided that, since it will take a while to add in the AI to perfection, I'll just put up a demo without it so you can see the weapons. I'll put it up TODAY.

it is pretty cool so far...but i think you need some reloading animations.

Did anyone else notice jerky camera movements, or was it just my computer?

Reloading animations... Well, if this were going to be a normal shooter, we'd probably do it, but this game is planned to have probably about 20 - 30 weapons when it's all finished, animations for every gun would just be way too crazy for this, so we are going to just have the gun drop off the screen and play a reload animation.

Yes, reloading animations are very difficult to do. I have seen some ocmmercial games that do it the way we do too, so I don't think that is a major concern.

I didn't notice it at all. That's wierd. What fps were you getting? I get around 160.

My FPS was over 200 constantly. Only mouse movements were jerky. Lemme see if I can get a Fraps video or something to show you later Sam.

EDIT: As I captured the video, strangely, the jerkiness went away. When I stopped Fraps, it returned If anything I'd think it would get worse.

Unreal Tournament games don't have reload animations, and many console shooters don't either. I don't think it's really an issue. We'd do it if we had more people, but really since it's just the 2 of us with limited time to work on the project, this isn't on the to-do list for important features.

Yes, it's not an issue.

How wierd that you get a higher fps, and even more wierd that you can see jerks and I can't with a higher fps!

Well, I have a better processor and more ram than you have, so that could be a factor in my framerate, but that shouldn't be an issue. The most obvious thing I can think of though is to let me see your camera code next time you are on AIM, I'll try it out on my computer and see if I can fix it.
