I know, but think about it.. It is abit repetitive. I am going to have a desc for every item. I talked to alot of people, and they brought my hopes down with things like. "No one cares about the details." ..If more people post I will expand my idea abit more.

Just to let you all know I am abit opsessive. If people think detailing the armor is better then adding magic power levels, then give it abit more thought. If I get passed names like.

Soft Leather Jerkin
Tanned Leather Jerkin
Hard Leather Jerkin

What the hell am I going to do?

I have no idea for anymore names.

Those items are not magic

What am I going to call them??

Soft leather jerkin +1??.. and then what, I might as well just called it Leather armor +1, no ones going to give a damn about any extra detail I put into the game.

CRAIG DAVID? Whats that? OOH! Sorry, I'm so dumb, I remeber now what a Craig David is. Its a Leather Armor +4. "You see a suit of finely crafted leather armor inlaid with mithril chain. Along the collar of this magical suit, etched into the leather are the words.. CRAIG DAVID."

I would rather see the names, but then for the +4, just go Hard Leather Jerkin +1. And +5, Hard Leather Jerkin +2.

I too am a RPC fan, but as far as seeing the #value displayed on the equipment list just have the value added to the AC of the character. If someone wants to know bad enough they can do the math. As far as names use a ther.. thereus... thearus? You know the book with the words for other words, they do come in handy.
GLuck with the game.

Attention to detail is paramount in games, as in life. If you really want people to feel part of the experience and put their soul into a game then they have to believe that you, as the designer and creator, have done the same.

It's easy to get dis-heartened but remember that the more attention to detail you can afford to place into any piece of work, the better that piece of work will be.

I've never really done any RPG but I love CRPG's, if you've taken the time to do some research and get some feedback then you're on the right road to making a great game and I'm sure the end result will be a good one.

How far have you gotten with your game? How many more ideas have you got? Any screenshots yet?

most rpg heads like to compare the last item they found to see if its

(a) worth wearing
(b) worth keeping
(c) worth selling or trading

each item is something your character feels apart of.

Imagine your halfing bard jongluer without his boots and cloak of elvenkind. Its only half the character if hes naked.

Items are like keep sakes or baseball cards that are attached to a character. Some principle elements of human play is collection and gathering games.

This is where this facet fits into the psyche of a more seasoned rpg gamer.

helping your player evaluate that becomes a critical component to a good rpg.

the items will remain mysterious then and some powers might not even be realised until discarded

growing your character while being entertained is fun but whats the good of all this stuff and u cant even kill a half divine ascended death lich gythyanki on the astral plane with your vorpal longward +5 and periapt of life.

lucky you had your soul in a magic jar and sent a similacrum after him with a contingency teleport on your simulacrim after the stoneskin wear off.

hopefully your similacrum wont realise its a clone and try and kill you.

If your smart enough you sent him through the concordinate oposition realm and told him to take the correct portal which will shift back anyway by the time he realises so u can prep for the clone retaliaition.

I played RPGS too much as a kid and sold my fiend folio and Legends and Lore with the special edition with the banned gods!
hehe

I think u will find just the names will be fine but a way to evaluate an items strengths and weaknessness is the key the blah blah above.

I think you need as many item types names as you can think of, I love finding stuff in rpg's hoping the next item is just a little better. and then have modifier names for them.

diablo does this really well instead of +1,+2 they have normal, execeptional, and elite and then they have magical items named with prefix and suffix.

so you can have a 'flaming elite dagger of extra damage'. this way you can have a almost limitless number of randoms come up.

heres the item page to dialbo

I am the endless supply of ideas.. But I also have a very bad obsessional problem.

Put it this way.

Say I had these armors in my game

Leather Cap
Leather Cap +1
Leather Cap +2
Elven Cap

Stop..

Elven Cap??

That is not a leather cap, so then I'll have to put it under its own catatory. I'd LOVE to overdetail everything. Like..

Patchwork Goblin Tabard

And thats just one way of doing it.

Instead, I could not care what I add! I'd add anything I want.

I'll have items ranging from a Tattered Silva Tunic to a Giant's Mace

But it just doesnt seem to fit. Thank you all for your replys, your attemps of support and effort are appreciated.

P.S. Someday I'd like to have item slots and items like the ones in Seige of Avalon. I mean geez you can wear 2 types of leg armor!
