when I set the resolution to 800x600 in the setup.ini and save changes, I can go back in to the setup.ini and it says 800x600.
but after I build .exe and go back in to setup.ini, it has gone back to 1024x768. why is that? also it's hard to tell if my game is really running in 800x600 as there is no real indication of a change. For my specific purposes I want my game 800x600.

Well, I do know that without an "in game" option to sustain an instant change to the resolution, MOST programs actually use the resolution of the system they are run on, always above..never below. Of course, I may be wrong, so it's open to debate.

BUT!

If you set that resolution and it works...then take your screen to below 800 x 600 on your system leaving the setup at 800 x 600 and then try to run it. That ilwl tell you if it at least adheres to your commands or not. I mean logically that is.

I don't know why it doesn't stay when you build the game but just add the following underneath your setup.ini (in the built game folder)

in [GameDebug]
width=800
height=600
depth=32

Your game will then stay in 800x600x32 depth
