I've put "The Facility" on hold for now while I work on this; HellHouse. You play the part of a sheriff who's been called to a (typically spooky) old mansion that sits on a hill (complete with it's own rectory and graveyard) and it's your job to find out what's going on.

...and yes, it's a zombie / spider / demon type game.

I only started this a couple of day's ago, and a big thanks to REDMAN for the textures

Any comments or ideas you might have will be most welcome.

Edit: Spelling

Nice. Could use some objects, weapons, and/or ebemies out in the open there.

Pretty nice. Looks more modern than old, though.

Comin' soon, maybe in Jan./Feb. 2007!

@ AI: There will be plenty of objects / enemies and weapons once I have the layout sorted. Ok, may be not old mansion but one that you wouldn't like to go to even in daylight!

@ Wilsypie: I'm using the latest - V1.04 final. The only annoying thing is that flickering lights not longer work in this version, but will probably be corrected in a future version.

Why not finish the old project first? Everyone seems to start games, then put them on hold, then abandon them and start a new one again, never finishing a complete project at all. It's a shame.

Anyway, I like the first show, but the second shot has to much empty open space in it.

Ahh, but it gets worse the further you go! Everthing starts of fairly nice but the further you get into the mansion (and beyond!) the more darker and scarier it gets.

Just like Resident Evil

@ Ben: Because I was winging it with "The Facility". I had no map, no goal and no clear ide how the game should go, I just sat at the computer and built stuff. With "Hell House" I had a map I drew ages ago (for a text adventure game, see attached) and thought I transfer it. I also know exactly what happens at the end as well as through the game.

If it's an old mansion, why is there a guitar in it? Not even the acoustic, but the like rockstar kind? lol Looks good.

Screenshot 1 gave a good impression. The seccond screenshot however looks really bland and boring if you don't mind me saying. The wall and floor textures don't really go together, also the room is WAY to empty. Place some more entities in the room. This shall give the game more of a feel.

I agree. It looks to nice and child friendly. If you want this to be a real horror game, you need to grunge up the textures, lower the ambience levels (if they are not allready at 0),and make the levels really disturbing.

Anyway,good luck with the game

Looks good. Where did you get those dog things? I think you should retexture / greyscale the texture so that it looks more like a statue.

It would also look cool if you scattered paper across the ground and stuff.

Thanks

Here's a vid of the work in progress. Admittedly there's not much in the house for now (busy creating a website for a commercial company, phew!) but when finished there will be three levels:

Main House:- Ground floor, first floor, attic. Here you'll learn exactly what's going on.

Basement:- a mega monster shot out feast

Under the house:- Where, quite literally, "all Hell breaks loose"

Here's the link to the vid: 19mb
