Alright, so I've been working on my game and it's called 'Phoenix: Rise of the Furries' You play as a man named Jack Stone but you became the first super soldier, which are called the Phoenix. But you were exiled to a planet called 'Xedo.' You are still in contact with the human race. Several hundred Phoenix soldiers were created after you were exiled. 7 years later when your exile is about to end you find out that a terrorist group called 'The Furries' rose to power (no one knows how though) and slaughtered all of the Phoenix soldiers. Contact is lost with Earth so you will have to fight your way through Xedo to find a way back to earth.

Here is a cruddy screeny. The HUD is not finished. And I forgot to change the FAMAS hud icon back to normal. Screeny next post as well.

Here is an image of the second level layout. Not completely finished.

I'm posting about the second level because the first level needs lots and lots of work.

Comments are more than 100 percent appreciated.

It does kind of look like a maze, but in the actual game, it's not that confusing.

Thanks rolfy!!! I've been putting in a lot of work with this game. I've done SEVERAL retextures. Including your pitcrawler. I'll post a screeny of the pitcrawlers I have in my game. I made like 3 or 4 retextures of them and I have the original as well.

I think it needs more scenery (objects, overlays) and more lightmaps. And you have 8 fps, so I would work on that.

Don't worry about my framerates. My computer doesn't even meet HALF the minimum requirements. I thought everyone would have known that by now. (I know Ben A does, lol) the september levels run about 5-8 fps on my comp, as well as the october levels, so the speed is fine. I will get to the lightmapping, when I upgrade my computer, as of now, I need to be able to test the levels and stuff. I lightmapped my december level, and it was taking 57 minutes to load the level. So I'll do that later.

Quote: "I think it needs more scenery (objects, overlays)"

Thanks, I don't know why I don't have any scenery. I'll add that stuff in.

Thanks for the comment Inspire.

Thanks AlanC, the red and blue ones were just simple gradient maps. But the others I did some re texturing. I'm glad you like it.

Sorry guys with the lack of inactivity to this game. I've just been really busy with my life outside of FPSC lately. I have a 3 day weekend off school this weekend so I'll start pumping stuff out this weekend.

Well, if you want criticism, I'd say spend more times on the re-textures. Simple gradient overlays looks very dull.
Other than that, this looks kinda interesting. I'll keep my eyes on this project.

I just did the gradients on the pitcrawlers just so I can have a few more. I didn't really know what to do on the retextures. But I'm fine with the way they are.

That's what my ex-wife said...and she lied...
It doesn't look too bad.
I recommend doing something with the textures on the crawlers and redoing the texture on the hands of the weapon. For some reason the colors kind of hurt my eyes...but that is just my opinion and some people might like it like that.
I do like your little hud at bottom left of the screen.
It does suck to make FPSC games on a low end computer.I don't have great specs so I feel your pain.
I can play an FPSC game with shaders although FPSC recommends that I don't I play them anyways. The results can be anywhere from no obvious effect at all to stuff is invisible or only parts of it show up.
I do like the design of the second level you have in the pic.

I could definitely do some more work on the pitcrawlers. But there is a select few of the colors that I like.

I'll ask around a bit.

Hey people, do you like my re textures.

Okay, I'm still working on this. I've almost finished the 4th level. This level will be very different than a typical level. I'm not going to show much. I'm just going to show that this one will have lighting. Unlike the first 3. Eventually the first 3 will have lighting. But for time purposes, I will leave them 'lightless'

And I want to know if you guys like the hands on my guns please.

Oh yeah, and the level runs VERY smoothly. Just look, I'm getting 15 fps with lighting. So it must run smooth if I'm getting 15 fps

sound like a cool game! I like the way you retextured the pitcrawlers. Are you trying to get a "Jelly" effect with them?

The segments come from a model pack. I believe number 5.

I don't really know what I was aiming for with the re textures. I was just adding some 'UMPH' instead of the typical one color.

Thanks for the comments.

Now that's a good lookin' game. You know the HUD? Keep it, it looks nice.

Level design: 9/10: Add a little more scenery. Look at the room on the left of the base level screeny; it looks very plain.
Colours: 10/10: I like colourful games!
Segments: 9/10: You've been playing around with Signs haven't you!
HUDS: 9/10: Could be a bit less solid on the colour.

1-Yes I haven't finished it yet. Thanks.
2- Thanks. I do too. Lots of colors makes me happy.
3-I LOVE signs. Thanks
4- I'm going to make the sides partially transparent and add some more to the middle. Thanks.

Thanks Phlum, by far the best comment I've had yet.

Very nice arm retexture and HUD. The arm reminds me of Master Chief a little bit. I think you should put a small border around the HUD, like a black line or something. Other than that, it looks good.

Hey man, I really like this. Although I'm not very good at constructive criticism, I'll tell you what I do and don't like.

I like it all, although the picture of the character on the HUD needs a little bit of work, It looks awesome. I can't wait till I get FPSC for myself and do something awesome like this.
