O.K.

This is me who kinda jumped outta programming a while back.

But I still want to help the programming community.

So... here we go. I'm a lead guitarist and am somewhat technically profficient. So I was thinking...why don't I get a drummer, a bassist, and a vocallist so we can donate music to games that need it!

It would be in general power metal/nintendo metal with maybe som thrash and speed metal.

I will submit an audition so you guys can see what I can do. You guys would then also sumbit an audition.

And some enterprising individual will have to come up with a name.

I was planning on they record, send the recording, I copy it to a CD, and then play the CD and record the CD and myself playing with it...

It's confusing, but it works.

How was my playing?

Honestly...

Hmm, you\'d probably lose a LOT of quality along the way.

Sorry, my internet\'s running abou 2 k/s right now, you\'ll have to wait for someone else to download your song

Sweet.

That wasn't thrash, that was like power metal.

I write lyrics like 8^(

But it would be nice to get some jizzers to join...

Soon I'll post some riffage...
I've been writing, and think I've got the first EP title down.

Will release title when we get another member or two... hint, hint.

Wouldn't it be easier to just use a program such as ACID or some other music program where you can import the sounds?

So you can get all of the people's music files, then import to the program and combine them at the specified places that way. It wouldn't lose any quality, and may even be easier as you can position the sounds just where you want them. You can download demos of programs like that to test them out and see before you purchase them, but that's just my idea. I'm downloading your song right now and I'll edit my post when I listen to it.

EDIT:
Yeah, I think you are pretty talented, and having some dedicated members you could definitely pull this off.

I play bass but have no recording equipment whatsoever. If you want something free for importing the individual parts then check out Audacity.

Check out ACID Express. It's free, and because I got to try it out, I decided to buy. BUT!!! You might enjoy:

Sonar
Cakewalk
Reason
Music Maker (crashes a lot but aside from that...works )
FlStudio (as you saw in the music board)
Pro Tools
And just about anything you may see at: www.sweetwater.com Guitar Center and any music site.

The main reason I'm saying this is, I own like 7 3D modellers but for some reason AC3D is the only one I understand. Acid is easy to learn, FlSTudio makes no sense to me, maybe it's different depending on the person.

I don't mean AC3D, I mean ACID.

It's a program that Sony owns, and it's for music.

Link:http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/products/acidfamily.asp

I don't play any instruments, I have a keyboard and an electronic guitar, but I'm no good on either of them. I would like to say it's a every interesting idea.

Upon visiting the link, I noticed they are very pricy. If you are wanting to do all of this for free, then you don't want to be paying $300 to start it. I searched and found MAGIX has something similar, and it's free.

Link:http://www.magix.com/us/free-downloads/free-software/music-manager/

Just try those out, if you don't like them tell me and I'll do some more searching...afterall you are doing the community a fairly big favor, so it's only right for someone to do all of the searching for you =)

Thanks guys. This means a lot to me.

If no one joins though, I'll just be a one-man band, 'cause I play the keyboard and drums too.

EDIT:
It's funny, because this has like 18 hits in the Music Section, and like 230 here, in it's second day. I'm still writing, and will put out some instrumental music today or tomorrow.

I'll make a new thread with all my instrumental tracks on it. These tracks can be used for video-games, but I would highly appreciate it if I was asked permission first.

Thanks!

Convert them to MP3, it takes out any sounds that are in audible to the human ear whereas WAV records all sounds.

When I try downloading it, it downloads a file that has no filetype at the end. When it's finished, I double click it and for some reason it comes up as a dll...is there something wrong with it?

EDIT:

It comes up as having 1.6 bytes as well...don't see how this is possible for a song, no compression in the world can turn a song into 1.6 bytes...ok done with the sarcasm and joking. I decided to try it again, and opened it up with Windows Media Player and Zune software, neither of them would play it.

Maybe you should check the download and if it's not working, use an external source for uploading next time.

Fixed Suffix. Should work now. Don't know what it was.

Well...all I can say is WOW! I loved this music =)

I'm not even joking, when I was listening my brother happened to be in the room, and he said "What are you listening to, Buckethead?"

So I'm not really just saying it to be nice, you are very talented. I would use your music in my game that I'm currently working on, but I can't find any places to put music such as this. The game I'm working on needs music such as Nobuo Uematsu orchastrates. Obviously I don't have the money to pay for that, but for the right feel it has to be sort of...dated.

Anyway on to the point, this is some awesome work. Keep it up!

I don't compare to Buckethead, though.

EDIT:
I now have a website!

The TV Rejects

I have a lesson on how to play the first heavy part of 'Moments' on it, and I'm making a lot of announcements on it.

I'm working on my first EP titled 'Science Feral EP.'

I'm about a third done with the EP.

Maybe I'll have it out today.

I finished the EP....

But I'm not happy with it. Do you guys still want me to release the EP? I am happy with one out of three though.

The title track, Science Feral, is pretty sweet, but I don't like the other two.

The track listing is as follows:
1. Science Feral
2. Venus Fly-Trap
3. Atom Bomb

I'm sorta happy with Atom Bomb, except the part right after the tapping with four somewhat high pitched notes. In my opinion, that screwed up the song.

EDIT:
Nevermind. I was in the heat of the moment and I thought they sounded like crap. Atom Bomb is kinda thrashy, but it's definitly got a death metal influence. Here they are. This one is Science Feral.

Nice work on getting a website up, now you can just put your collection of stuff on there for people to listen to and they can contact you easier (easier to contact you through there then having to search The Game Creators forums and all of that).

Couldn't make much out because the recording is poor and there is too much distortion. Your guitar also sounds flat.

I think if you're intending on a collaboration, you need to buy a metronome! I was going to put the audition track you did into Logic and add some drums for you, but the speed changes from bar to bar so it's impossible to mix!

Are you recording through a Mic or a line in? Ideally you should record the guitar as "clean" as possible and add all your distortion and reverb at the production phase, that way you have more scope to play with the sound.

If you bought a metronome and ensured that you played in time, I'd be happy to mix down your tracks with some drums and a bassline.

**EDIT**

Went back and had a look at the audition again in FL. I had to chop it up into little bits to get it in time, and in all honesty I spent about 5minutes making the drums, but here ya go, what do you think? Track attached.
I used a plugin called Dystroyr to create the distrotion on the guitar.
Theres also a stupid amount of reverb on the whole thing to make it sound like it was recorded in a garage or something!

I want robotic legs.

The Audition sounds great. I like the reverb on it. To your metronome thing, I intend it to be like that. I have a proggier sense of music and playing, but I'll try to whip up something straighter, and therefore, more predictable. I can play drums fine to my songs, my then again, they're my songs.

On Atom Bomb, the distortion is supposed to be somewhat overwhelming. I'll go back and listen to it to see how bad it is, but I'll try to meet your guy's "expectations".

EDIT:
The distortion on Atom Bomb sounds fine for what I was trying to achieve. I'm working on the riffs.

Making music for yourself is fine and you shouldn't change it for other people, i was just saying that it sounded pretty much like a minute of static interspersed with flat solo's. If you're happy with it thats all that matters at the end of the day. I make songs all the time (acoustically with lyrics based on my own experiences) but they aren't commercial worthy and would probably only mean something to me, but i'm happy with them so i enjoy playing them.

While you're at it, play/record something with absolutely no distortion. I can't make much sense out of the distorted pile of noise you've posted so far, or else I'd critique further. Also, do try and keep a steady tempo. For me, music requires melodic and rhythmic appeal, and so far you've shown neither.

You people are extremely critical. I mean, where's you're songs that you released to the public? Have any of you even listened to Venus Fly-Trap, or Moments? Those are melodic. And have little distortion. So I will continue this rant. Maybe if you visted my website posted above and listened to some of the tracks, you wouldn't be complaining! Again, if it bothers you, don't listen to it! Am I wasting your money? If you don't like it, oh well! It doesn't matter that much.

No rhythmic appeal, eh? If you can't make it out, then how the would you know? And if you can't make it out, then how does it have no melodic appeal? Also, you guys are totally missing the whole point of this thread! Look at the first post, maybe listen to the file on it....

Geez!

I wrote this last night, and it was going to be reserved for my album, but since nobody can calm down for two seconds, here!

EDIT:
Look, the whole point of these songs is to be used in video-games, not for you guys to gripe and complain about. If you're not going to use it in a game, then why does it matter?

How can you expect to post an audition and not get critique? Isn't that the point? If no one was critical of your work, you would never get better.

Not making it out is exactly the reason why it has no appeal. I'm not one who considers inconsistent noise as music, so it is not appealing to me.

I have listened to all the tracks posted on this thread, and my opinion stands. But that's just it, an opinion. You can take it or leave it, no difference to me.

Yeah, you listened to everything. Did it all sound like "inconsistent noise"? How can "Valley", the track I just posted, sound like inconsistent noise? I can tell when people are trying to help, and to be quite, frank, you sir, are not. Dude, this is the end. If you're not seriously listening to every red download button on this thread, then you're not helping anyone. I've had stuff on the radio, and if it was all inconsistent noise, I don't think it would have made it. Ever heard of Paul Hemenway? Look him up on YouTube. This guy likes what I'm doing.

So don't post again till you go through every button on this thread that says download. If it's all inconsistent noise, I'll be happy to take it all down.

Just listen.

Okay, I just listened to Valley, and I can honestly say it's a big improvement. I would listen to more like this.

I think the main problem here is the difference in our tastes. I prefer cleaner, more flowing music, but I could see how some people like heavy electric riffs and effects. For example, this is my favorite song by that artist and one of my favorites overall. I do wish you luck in your musical ventures, and hope I haven't offended you too deeply.

No man, I'm sorry if I offended you. I'd write a deep response, but I'm kinda pressed for time. I'll write one soon...

The reason I take offense to everything so easily, is because I was the butt of many jokes when I was younger, and was bullied, and it was horrible. Pressed for time again...

Well...I am currently going to be making a game. I'm taking a break from my bigger project to work on a smaller one, and guess who's music came to mind when I was thinking of music I need =)

Of course, I'll get the specific songs listed that I'll need permission for. I'll post the names and more details when I get further into the project.

Yes! I'm in the process of more writing and recording. Visit my website for updates and such. There's a song that I "illegally" leaked from my own upcoming album called "Valley". It's quite peaceful. I've gotta record and mix one more song for my nostalgic "The Shrede von Rockenschtel Tapes", from when I was another persona. But when I say nostalgic, I mean nostalgic for me. They're quite outer-spacey. And I'm working on a weird song called "Robot" for my upcoming album. So, short, I'll have a LOAD of free material for you to select from by the time you're ready.

Here's "Valley".

Pretty good. How hard would it be for you to make a song with a more...electronic/techno feel? You mentioned that you play a keyboard so, I would assume you could make one. I don't expect you to make the next dance club favorite, as long as it has a good beat that doesn't get old too fast, it's fine.

Of course, if you don't want to or can't acheive this, I understand and I'll just have to find those songs that match the mood of the game.

Ha, Ha Ha!

A lot of people who listened to my "Shrede von Rockenschtel" stuff said it was techno. It's coming, maybe today.
