hello,

i recently started a anatomy thread but i feel that i have managed to refine my body modelling, and i want to use this thread to practice my head modelling as that had been what i had had most difficulty with. and if anyone wants me to try and replicate a celebrities head then let me know as that'll elp me with realism and what not

so heres the first bust, hope you like it and please provide some C&C

The eyes are way too close together. They could be lowered a bit too.

In terms of just general cosmetics, I think he'd look better if he had more forehead showing.

The eyes are the only problem I see, and maybe the nose is a bit too big. Other than that it looks great.

I will live forever or die trying.

It looks great, the first two things I noticed though are the nostrils are flared very wide and are kind of bubbled out. the rim around the nostrils can flare out, but then should taper in towards the bridge rather than bumping out.

second, the lips seem somewhat flat from the side view.

I like the ears, they always seem to give me alot of trouble.

hair should never be sculted on the mesh imho, it should always be a single mesh, nontheless it looks awesome=) only problem i can see is the lips... though, it is anatomically correct as far as i can see, so the lips isnt really a problem since all humans looks different, that includes lips=P looks great=)

looking a lot better, but that mat cap is just distracting, use one with a lot less gloss.

Well, what works for me is just make it long and a bit curly, it will always look good if you spend time looking at it. And the second head is really better, exept I thought the eye was round, you made the front go inwards where it should even go outwards because of your natural lens.

the natural lens does bulge and round out the eye, but I make them separate from the eye itself then parent it on over a flatish pupil/iris area like he has going there.

This lets you get a wet and glossy shine on the lens above the pupil which gives a feeling of depth to the eye and allows you to animate the pupil itself without changing the outer shape of the eye as a whole.

I made this eye a good while back and use it for all of my characters. It is made of two meshes and two bones. The pupil and iris area are actually completely flat with a curved lens over them.

The animation is kind of fast but:

Wow! Nice job on the models!

I can't get rid of the feeling that they are made out of plastic... Does that change in-game?

thecomet@

thanks, the plastic look is because of the matcap i've used, i haven't put these in-game yet, to do that i would have to lower the poly count by an extreme amount, however i may at somepoint

anyway heres an update, its a start on essentially a jumper, or hooded top

i've also included the depth mask and innitial render.

That's what's called a Freudian slip LoL (your subconscious made it look like Freud.)

Sorry I couldn't resist. Nice head models btw.

Cheers!

Looking good but the left eyebrow seems to have very little hair compared to the right one and even if you meant for that, there still is little hair in general
