I suppose it's time for my next pack! (you guys can expect these packs to just pop up at random times and swap themes real quick) I had an idea based off of what commercial game devs do. They use overlays to add more details into scenes without loading different textures or adding polygons. So I decided to try it out myself, and I came up with this: A set of crack overlays to ruin your levels (literally)! 7 blood splat decals also included just for fun

So here's some screenshots:

And screens of the gory stuff:

Those are only a small few of the total collection, which is about 30 overlays.

And just like my new packs, this is free as well

Here's the download link (click the CD, like always):

>><<

EDIT: Forgot to mention that it is best if you use these in 0-5 ambience levels. Anywhere brighter and the shadows that are cast on them will look awful.

Enjoy the newest pack!

I've had the idea for a very long time mate... I just didn't know how to do it.

EDIT: Since when did you have this idea and how would I know about it? None of your overlay threads mention it.

And most people would take that as offensive, I'm not trying to be offensive, just tryin' to sort things out.

Lol, memorable FPSC forums quote right there

Hey thanks for this pack my friend! It's a very simple idea, and yet extremely handy for almost any scene. And I completely know what you mean, I've dabbled in the Hammer editor from time to time, and how they use overlays in L4D & Half-Life 2 maps and such always intrigued me and seemed very innovative and brilliantly resourceful. It's fantastic to see the concept adapted into FPSC.

Thanks for the download

Cheers.

Life would be much easier if I had the source code.

Thank you for the nice comments guys

@CoffeeGrunt, cool. UDK uses the more handy decal system, where they're not actual models, but sort of controlled by a direction, correct? Would you mind showing me what these look like in UDK as I don't know how to get decals into UDK.

Hey, not sure if it is just me but I cannot download it anymore.

The "click start to download" button takes me to a dead link. Not sure why I can't download this file, other mediafire downloads give me no troubles.

When i run closer to the crack it starts appearing. But from a distance, you can't see it at all. Is this suppose to happen? It looks like the blended texturing thing from the Crysis 2 trailer.

Abdul Ahad: This is a problem with all overlays. They are only visible from around 5 segment length. If you want them to appear as always being there to the player, you have to go in Gimp or Photoshop and paste the overlay picture onto the wall texture.

Cheers,
Anayar
