Hey everyone, since you have all been so helpful to me in my "scripting n00b" phase i thought i might throw another question out there. There are a few games ive seen where a player walks up to a door, and then hears a few sounds indicating that obviously some helpless soul is being mauled on the other side of the door, and then blood spatters appear at the foot of the door. For those of you that don't know what I'm talking about, it appears at around the 2 minute mark(give or take) in this video. (Not made by me) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVn0lz0ECmA&feature=related
..can anyone help me script this?
i assume theres a triggerzone by the door, and the blood appears after the sounds go off? or something like that?

It is better to stay silent and be thought a fool then to speak up and remove all doubt.

I tried to recreate it, but couldn't get 2 things working well.
*I got it to spawn when I hit the triggerzone, but not on a delay.
*It spawned but not at floor level, more like knee level.

You could just model a 'sleak' pool of blood then place it on the other side of the door and animate it to slowly push forward, thus giving the impression that it is running/pooling towards the player.
It would have to be scripted and I'm not sure just how well it would work being close to another dynamic object (door).

Worth a shot though.

couldn't you accomplish the delay between the sound and the blood appearing with timers in the script that you attach to the trigger?
something like

:state=1,plrwithinzone=1:etimerstart,state=2
:state=2,etimergreater=2000:etimerstart,plrsound=whatever your filepath is,state=4
:state=4,etimergreater=2000:activateifused=1

or something along those lines?

Although the effect in the video looks cool.
NOTE - In the real world, blood will not splatter like that because the door is in the way.

Just thought I would add that.
