Been working on this the past two week and I think I finally have enough to start showing it.

If you know what the original NES game looked like, then there's really no need for a screen shot. There's a few things I haven't implemented yet from my DBP version, but a few thing I have added that you won't find yet in the DB source I released.

I know AppGameKit was developed for phones/tablets, but I'm happy using it just for desktop purposes. Try it out, let me know if you find any bugs or quirks.

DOWNLOAD (May 19)

Working:
- Boomerang
- Sword (inc. shooting)
- Wand / magical rod
- candle (burn secret bushes)
- bombs (blow up secret caves)
- Store purchases
- 2 hidden secrets (bushes)
- Fairy fountains
- Whistle
- Bow/Arrows
- Push rocks to reveal caves

Not all the caves have been set up yet. As for the two secret caves, the first can be found by going up one zone then right one zone. Burn that first bush in front of you. The second is on a corner on the way to level 1. It's where you can buy a shield for only 90 or buy individual hearts for 10.

Yes this is a "clone". I'm trying to make it look as close as possible to the original. So while it may seem like I did little more than walking around a tilemap over the past 2 weeks, there were a lot of tiny subtle details to get correct. Plus, I had to learn AppGameKit too!

It's barely 1mb, so download it and give it a quick test.

-= Controls =-
arrow keys
press X to use sword
press Z for alternate weapon (boomerang/bomb/etc..)
press Enter to toggle the hud

The image shows up for me, so not sure what you mean. And that one is from the DB version, in AppGameKit I have the NES font in place.

I'm uploading a video to youtube now.

Really nice looking

But I wonder why you are doing this. People who wants to play it usually just get an emulator. And isn't Nintendo going to stop you once they find out? I think you would be better off using your code to make your own Zelda inspired game.

BTW, since you are making this in AGK. You can make it playable on Ouya and other Android based gaming devices.

I'm just doing it for fun, It'll never be released on anything other than windows simply because of the legality of it. Making clones gives me a template to work from and kinda forces me to implement all the tiny details that I might overlook normally with my own design.

I do have my own zelda-inspirted game in mind once I finish this.

Updated the video to show the secrets revealed by bombs and the candle, as well as warping with the whistle.

Don't mind the background music, I had iTunes running.
