1. £30 at the most for a VERY good game

2. No, firstly you've got to buy the vista add on, it's about £170 (If you live in England) and secondly you've got to get all the right stuff for vista. It's no good buying the vista add on and expecting your computer to be 10 times quicker, you need to buy a good graphic card, processor, and all that funny stuff. I'd love to buy FPSC X10, it looks amazing but until somewhere around 2012 when Windows XP will seem like Windows 95 and everyone has vista. There's not much point of selling your games to people who don't have vista.

I hope that helped!

No, but I want to

The only down side of co.nr is you have to wait a long time to get your website on, and also you've got to place there banner on your website, and the manually check if you've got it on.

With .tk there's a banner at the top but I've got some HTML for you that should get rid of it, although i still think there's the .tk opening page...

You choose...

Sorry, but if I payed £30 for a game and it ended up being made in FPSC, I'd wish harm upon the creator.

£10 is about as much as you can expect, any more than that and your risking serious backlash. Be realistic, people just would not be happy at spending £30 on a FPSC game while HL2, Doom3, probably even Quake4 are available for less. £10 is a good and acceptable budget game price, and is really the market you should aim for.

Yes, I suppose so, but think about it, it doesn't matter how much it costs as long as you enjoy it, and if it's professional. I probably would buy one of butterfingers games for around £20 at the most. So I think £20 is decent if it has good graphics and nice light mapping. So yes maybe not £30, but £20 at the most.

Ahhhh! BlueVoda, I've got that and I'm sad to say, it stinks.

These are all good website creators:
Freewebs.com [Butterfingers made his there]
Tripod.com [I don't think anyone has]
Piczo.com [A bit of acheesy website editor]

I would go for freewebs. They provide good quality templates. And it's very easy once you get used to it. You should be able to get the hang of it.

For anyone who wants to eliminate adds on there free sites, put in this html

I would pay $20 USD (maybe more) for a top of the line FPSC game.
Right now I can think of four or five FPSC forum members who can make a game like that.
That would be after playing some kind of demo to make sure it works on my crappy pc...
I pay for hosting for my site...less than $7 (USD again) for my site.
I could use a free site but I would rather fork over a few bucks for my site and I can host files of any size, have an excellent amount of bandwidth and there are NO ads and you don't have to sign up for anything unless you want to use the chat room.
I can do what I want when I want for less than $7 a month.
I may not have the absolute greatest looking site but it gets the job done.
I did buy Web Page Maker V2 to design the site with.
If you plan on hosting FPSC games/demos paying a small amount for your own site is your best bet.
I think Filefront will let you upload an unlimited amount of files and there are no limits on the sizes but Filefront is in of itself an iffy proposition.
I do want to mention FPSC was made for the hobbyist game maker in mind.
And the economics of the FPSC forums are not the same as they might be elsewhere.

1.How much would you pay for an fpsc game?

$10 at the most, but it needs to be really good to even consider buying it.

2.Are you going to brought the Vista version?

No way. FPSC V1 is so full of bugs and trouble, why in the world would I want a new version and get aggrivated about even more bugs? FPSC V1 and the way TGC handles it, convinced me to stay away from FPSC X10 as far as possible.

I think it's worth noting that FPSCX10 is being written in DGSK and C++, so there won't be the same bug problems... there'll be all new bugs to deal with! (joking, lower the rifle RickV :/)

Seerzack,
to answer your questions:

1. I can get games like Half life, DOOM etc for $25 or so...why would I want to pay that much for a game made through FPSC??

Game made with FPSC can just not match commercial titles in terms of visual quality. Yes, FPSC games can be created with a lot of 'fun' factor, which would make them re-playable...but such re-playable & fun games I can also play online for free on so many sites.

To be brutally honest, with the exception of some good games (and you would know which ones I am talking about), I wouldn't want to play most of the games on these forums even for free.

2. No. Not yet anyways. TGC shall have to really convince me that they can make the FPSC X10 bug free, and for that, they first need to solve the issues with this FPSC first.

I think, by the time TGC is done making FPSC X10 the way it should be, it will be in time for Vista being the OS used everywhere. So I will buy it then.

If I normally paid 50.00 for a new and what I thought to exciting game, then I guess I would pay about the same for a game made with FPSC.

We have an advantage, if you will, knowing the software and our capabilities with it which makes us think the games should carry a lower price. If someone with exceptional skill made an exciting and good looking game with FPSC, why would it not sell for more than $10.00? I think we're basing our price on what we have seen so far, or what we are personally capable of, which in my opinion is not anything ready for sale.

That being said, I would never pay $50.00 for a new game. I always wait for reviews and enough time to pass that the price will come down. If the game is still around and the price remains high for some time, then it's a good game.

You must also take into account that this forum as a whole wants to pay much less for anything than what is normal anywhere else. This is really not a good place to ask "How much would you pay for an fpsc game?"
Best.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

Yeh I know I was being a bit OTT with that £30

I dont know how much $10.00 is worth here in england but it seems about £8. I think you could get an FPSC game to sell for about £15 - £20

yes, xplosys, very true. But after all these years and with so many people trying to make games, I think we can successfully say that we have seen the best of what FPSC can create.
Think about Butter's FOTF. Look at the amount of work he's been putting into that. Look at the amazing quality of the game he's producing.
By the time he is done (maybe this year's end!), his game quality (models, textures, sounds etc) will be obsolete!! The only thing that might make his game sell-able would be gameplay! And if it lacks in that, I doubt anyone would play (let alone pay) FOTF!

Think about a classic, say "Duke Nuke 'em". If you had never heard of it, or played it before, would you pay even $10 for it today??

Supposedly Microsoft are going to bring out a new pc in 2008 - Windows Vienna and in 2010 Windows Fiji and a few years later Windows Voyager so Vista will be like windows 95, well almost.

I am not saying these dates are definate but this is rthe info I found on the web!

Actually, I think it's only been about two years, which is an average time for a game company (with numerous people working full time) to create a good game, and I just don't agree that we have seen the best that FPSC can do or a team can do with it. And lets be realistic. Who were all these people trying to make games and show what FPSC can do?

I know it's not a professional engine, but I also think decent games can and will be made with it. It's still too early in the larger scope of game making to decide. Even with the best, most expensive engine in the world, the average development time is over a year.

As for the program or technology being outdated, welcome to the wonderful world of computer software. We're going to have to keep buying the next versions as the come available.

Just my opinion.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

Whats the point of buying vista as supposedly Microsoft are releasing a new OS next year- windows Fiji and in 2009 Windows Vienna is being released. Vista is only going to be around for a short while. I am going to wait until vienna before I upgrade my computer cos after that it will be about four years until windows voyager comes out, even though I will miss out on x10 until then!

Plus I wouldn't pay more that $10 for an FPSC game!

(You can get more info on vienna etc at http://www.windowsvienna.com/)

If you made everything in the game by yourself and advertised it EVERYWHERE but here and dident tell people how you made it you might be able to sell it for $40. But you wouldent get many buyers.

I do not suggest freewebs anymore. Its really gone down hill. First It was perfect. Then they added ads on your sites. And then that stupid toolbar at the top. And then they raised there prices for add ons.

I have to disagree. Although we do base it on what we have seen so far. But what we have seen so far is all we really are going to see until TGC releases a Non Buggy version of FPSC for the most part. When outsiders purchase a game, they won't give a flying pig shoe what software made it. Just as long as they like to play it.

But I do agree that we have seen NOWHERE near what FPSC is going to reach to. It's just such a new product. However at this time, no FPSC game is going to be phenomenal.

I love discussions like these I've been dreaming about what FPSC could do if.... For me it's time to wake up and realize FPSC is never going to make my dreams come true and I'm afraid there are always going to be if's with FPSC.

A number of us have been waiting a long time now to see FPSC become what it claims to be. During that time some good potential has left this place, taking their dreams elsewhere and more may follow them. I'm still slumbering, but unless TGC does something awesome soon, I'm afraid I'm going to wake up also and realize creating cool games with FPSC was just a dream.
