Does anybody know if blender 3d has texture baking and bumpmapping, and normals features that can be permantely etched into models to give it that high quality effect just like 3D Studio Max? Some have said that Blender 3d provide some the features of 3dMAX to an extent, and I thought that would be pretty good, given that its a free program. I know it may have a steep learning curve, but what more can you ask for from a free program like that.

I use Blender, though I'm not sure what those terms mean .

I personally love Blender, so I recommend just using it. Did you try googling your question?

How bout asking Blender people on a Blender forum so you don't bump something thats FPSC ready? How bout that? That would be nice....

I don't care how long you've been around here, it's certainly long enough to read the stickies and rules we all have to follow.

This rash of software related questions is getting old.

I'll be looking more into Blender.

@Locrian

One thing that I've learned about these forums in the past few years, there's been an increase in people that don't have good forum etiquette. They seem to want to tell people off when they feel like it. You don't have to rag on me because I posted a question about some software. Sometimes I want to find out what people think about certain types of software and development tools.
I like to compare here and there. And THANK YOU!!!, I do know about forum procedures.

Sometimes I lay wait in the shadows of these forums to see how people act, not even posting threads most of the times because people are judgemental and want to flame people every minute of the day.

I wouldnt let locrian bother you mate, hes not highly regarded outside of his own little world, let alone outside of the fpsc zone.

Another outburst from him will result in punishment he deserved a long time coming.

Anyone whos that negative must have issues they cant resolve, personally i wouldnt let it stress you.

Its obvious to the elders as well as anyone with a fabric of moral decency, that his outbursts stem from his in ability to think rationally and get along in social circles.
I have a charming email from him, when he decided to make racial comments towards another user and was told to pull his head in.

Let the mods handle those issues while you focus on your modeling.

Locrian did nothing wrong so I see no reason to moderate him.

Yeah, blender has these features now, and they work well. There's a bit of a run-down on the blender site in the new features section...don't know what its called though.

Don't mind Locrian, he's just a little inconsiderate sometimes.

DB newbie : unfortunately we appear to have different rules for that area that dont apply to customers here. However in the rest of this forum its not tolerated.

bsgamemaker : if you any issues with being insulted after paying for a product within the forum, please dont hesitate to contact a moderator or the company itself. You dont have to tolerate nonsense like that after you paid for a product.

the ogre 3d website appears to have some wikis around these subjects

Thanks indi,

I appreciate your hospitality. Blender seems to look pretty good and have some equal features to 3DS MAX. I checked it out, and it seems workable at this point. I'm going to pre-render some of my models for FPSC and other projects so I can get that realistic quality I've seen in a some modern games. Like I said earlier, I know there's a learning curve, but that's okay. I'll study Blender well enough until I get the results I'm looking for.

Also thanks greenlig!
