Hello all

i managed to complete my entry before the deadline, and thought I'd share it with you guys.

i regret not adding more triangles, i could have added 1000 more (eek!)

im still pleased with the results, here it is:

and the 'winning pose'

for anyone not familiar with the dominance war, the competitions brief was to create a 'shadow' under 6000 triangles.

let me know what you think, there are some amazing entries from all teams, i doubt I'll get far but it was a great experience and got some really helpful crit from guys who really know their stuff

Good stuff Jon!
I've been watching your progress for some time now, I have to say you've done quite well! Great texture work!
The second pic, Rauhn's mask looks bigger that the first pic.
The second pic looks like someone pissed him off!
just a suggestion that you could hae added was in the second pic where the energy was coming out from his hand would have looked better if it was more "raging".

Good stuff.

Very cool! I've been quietly watching your progress on this. I think I like the first pose better, he looks more brooding...like he's contemplating how to kill you.

I know it's a beauty render, but any chance I could see a viewport grab of this bad-boy?

thanks guys,

tj990, yeah i noticed than the mask looks a bit bigger, stupid deformations meeting with the neck bone, ah well, a bit late now. the differences arent too drastic though

i like the first pose most of all, i like the creepy beefed up look, rather than all out crazy, but its just not a real "win pose"

@ bond1

yeah sure, there isnt much to the render anyway, merely video post glow and some anti-aliasing, heres a viewport grab, from the first pose

i believe my concepts to suck so bad im not really gonna show them here. i'll have to spend some more time every now and then with the tablet, certainly something im interested in developing in

edit:

god damn do i hate those middle page ads!

Excellent. I just think that he would look better with no claws, but this an excellent character anyway.

Well done

great work Jon!! Just great!!

good luck with the competition.

ps: if its the 2nd pose you are submitting, could you try and make the cloak (draped on his right hand body side) a tad less stiff? Right now it looks more like metal than cloth.

The waviness in the 1st pic looks good if you want to copy that.

thanks everyone for the nice comments

@ 5louiz

yeah he looks pretty cool with nothing, but in the end i needed to give him something to defend (defend?) himself with

@ aticper

i use 3D Studio Max

@ filya

im submitting both poses, the first one is the beauty shot, simply because i think the lighting mixes well and he's in a relaxed pose, the second is for the winning pose shot.

i see what your getting at with the rigid look of the cloth, a bit late now but thanks for pointing that out

I think he looks a little like a techno-mage+Quake version of Scorpion!

Too cool!

meh, its okay.
j/k

The side of the head is pinched, the knees are flat, and it looks like he's wearing platform shoes.

other than that, looking good.

Have you seen my sig?
I think it's been sig-napped.

I think all of those are deliberate. And very well done.

yup, hard edges to the face show the strained rigid face i wanted to go for, not loose and flabby

@ Seppuku

Ive got some wired shots on my website, though they aren't too big, so here's one:
