i cant actually set an specific time as i have rewritten it continously for an long time.
i started with phalex tutorial and then have recoded almost everything on and off after that.
i dont have that much time as its only an hobby for my spare time pleasure .
i didt code anything for about 8 months but started about 2-3 months ago and started from scratch with the editor as i didt have one before only the basic game engine.
and i find myself working mostly wityh the core and getting it working properly.
as i want it to handle large terrains and alot of units at the same time.
its my learning project to master game coding better. cheers

ps........
the engine consist of multiple editors for simplicity
currently have i only done the terain mapper and the formations editor.
but the terrain mapper controls many aspects of the engine as you paint out on to the terrain how the the terrain would block units in there search for walk paths and many other stuff.

Woah...a formations editor. I thought I was the only person that thought of that. I had a RTS in Game Maker that I was working on, and I made a formation editor. Woah. Lookin' really good man, can't wait to try it out.

thanks bizar guy it actually runs alot better then the vids show as i was forced to lock fraps to 25 fps and it got a bit sluggish as the game engine runs betwen 101-202 fps but will be locked to 60 when its final, easier to see if i have heavy lowdowns during development if the fps aint locked.

PS..
everything is being done with no plugins and dlls exept for the units turning .
but it will also be changed as i got an better idea with an dummy object .
my goal is to trye to make as good engine with only native dbp commands as far as i can right now to learn as much as possible.
cheers

are getting the rough works on the unit editor now.
there is alot of blanks right now as you only can fix angles and set up animations .
the units editor will also let the user setup
movement speed
fire rate
health amount
carrying amount of ammo
fire range
units marker gfx and style for inside the engine when selected
line of sight distance
pathfinding type
basic ai behaviour (evasive or kamikaze?)
bullet particle design
tracks on ground design
various sounds for fire dying walking and so on
as much as possible of the units design and other stuff.
cheers

ok yust finished so that you either can autodetect limbs to be used as turrets and firespots or manually select them with the mouse.
for when the user is lazy and want to use another persons 3d model
because if you model yourself so will you yust have to name the fire spot limb = fire and the limb supposed to be the turret = turret so will the editor detect them and activate them.
cheers

ps
be patient with this as iam only working on it when i feel like it and for my own pleasure.

that's really cool. I can't watch the videos because if I finished downloading, windowsmediaplayer tells me about an "unknown error" and so on.

Could you upload the videos to youtube so I can watch them and so people could watch them while downloading and could have faster downloadspeeds?

Looks impressive, well done.

Can you explain what you mean by unit turning?

As long as Cliff doesn't mind, I'll host the videos on my server which should give you guys a much better download speed.
