I think you should change it to "The user who previously had a very long name, but then decided to change it to something shorter but ended up with this."

So what if I talk to myself? Its the only way i can have an intelligent conversation around here.

Are

you

freaking

serious.

The reason my dummy model was being deformed was because the default FBX exporter settings for Maya and the default FBX importer settings for 3ds Max are exactly the same with one exception: Maya exports in centimeters, and Max imports in inches. For some reason only the bones were being scaled to these units, deforming parts of the mesh. Works good now, I can get back to teh codez.

@Melancholic: Turbosquid has a handful of free people meshes, but I didn't see any free medieval people. Maybe there are some posted on this forum, otherwise you could just download a generic Turbosquid person and modify the mesh.

Already looked there , found one archer i could use :p, just a warrior left. BTW this is for a small reinactment of 1066 program im making for my history project, maybe a power point would have been good enough....

I went to a movie and a party with her last year. It was pretty cool. She's pretty fun to hang around with.

Blarg for weird bugs. If I don't set object frame to 0, convex hull makes the visual object go funky. Even if I do, it still offsets a bit. Newton shouldn't have anything to do with animation anyway.

On-word!

It's called "Just Like Paradise" by David Lee Roth, who was part of Van Halen from the 70s to 80s. It's a really awesome song.

It's not bad, not really my style of music, but I like it. Nice tempo, the guitar fit really well, but the singing only sounded right in a few spots. Though, I think it'll grow on me in time.

So yeah. Dunno what's going on or how I can fix it, hopefully I can though.

Made model in Maya. Made skeleton. Rigged model. Set a few keyframes to test animation. Works fine.

Export to FBX, import in 3ds Max. Animation still works.

Export to .x. Load in DBPro. No animation plays, no keyframes detected, all limbs have an offset of 0, 0, 0. I can list all the names that I assigned them in Maya, as well as a series of mesh deformations that shouldn't be counted as limbs. I had done a test animation with PatientZero that worked fine, and the only difference besides the number of limbs is that this dummy model was created as a proxy, which explains some of the deforms listed. I think the only thing left to try now is make a regular model without proxy and see if it fixes.

....

Nope. Made a simple block guy using only extrude, made a simple skeleton manually, exported at default. Imported in Max and the bones are messed up, but the animation still plays. Exported to x and it's the same as before. Limbs but no keyframes, and all are exactly at the origin according to DBPro. I'm not sure what I did before that worked, but nothing is now. I can try rigging in Max, though I have no idea how.

....

Got animation working. The problem was with Max's .x exporter, I had apparently changed a setting at some point. Still no limb offset information, no matter what I do. The animation, just moving an arm back and forth, plays fine, so I have no idea how it's moving just those vertices in the arm without having a limb there.
