Ive been banned from enough forums to learn to be careful with what i post. I also saw some people banned from this forum. I missed out on what Mr Handy posted but from what it sounds like it reminds me of a school presentation i did once. Every Friday our programming class was required to do presentations on anything that has to do with technology. So i decided to do a presentation on the upcoming release of GTA4. My teacher is usually very cool with mature content and respected the fact that we were almost adults and can handle mature content. My presentation was pretty much borderline. I was going to talk about technological improvements on the graphics and physics engine and show an unrated trailer (they couldnt stop me since it wasnt rated M) Basicaly it was borderline. First the teacher had me censor some of the screenshots (i quickly pasted pictues of kittens over screens that contained elements of blood and violence) Then i showed the trailer. Btw we did these presentations together with the neighboring office-tech class (a class that taught how to be a secretary pretty much) And their teacher was one of those middle aged ladies who gets needlessly concerned/angry about stuff that dosent bother most men. While my teacher was ok with the trailer, and despite that the trailer showed no direct violence just guns being shot car chases explosions and Niko Bellik walking through atmospheric surroundings of Liberty City... get ready guys...
A vauge distant silouette of what appeared to be a stripper (or ot could be a silouette of a regular woman leaning against a pole) which flashed on the screen for less than a second set this teacher off. And they asked me to stop the trailer. She did not think her office techies were mature enough for this kind of content even tho we were all seniors and at least 17yo. (I was 18 already)
But yes over-protective mothers really irritate me. Im my in significant personal opinion, kids who grew up with more freedom given to them by parents turned out to be better people. I am not talking about myself because i am actually a terrible person and was raised by grandparents and then my aunt and uncle after who I lived alone since i was 17yo. When i was a kid, during the 90s, the pop culture in Russia where i grew up became so screwed up, there was just too much bad things being shown and happening all over the place that it was pointless to be overprotective.
Something tells me that whatever Mr Handy posted that got this lady so offended will be lauged off by the police if she actually goes to them. So i dont think there is anything to worry about.
Quote: "I didn't realise Russians found silly dancing so offensive."
I am a Russian and now i am curios to see and tell you guys if its offensive or not. I probably wont get offended but i can tell you if its generally offensive or not. Russians on the internet (especially now) are constantly being blasted by offensive things. We are learning how to deal with it by taking it and turning it into a satire joke or something amusing or cute
