working on a new model, taking inspiration from msg's 'grey fox'..
..but not all that similar to grey fox hopefully..

here's the concept/wip, just planning out the texture atm.

5 hours so far, using wings 3d.

Very nice. Can not wait to see it textured.

In solid mode the polygons usage seems good. I would like to look at the wire frame, if you want to show.

Is it meant to be a game-ready model?

thanks. And sure, the image is attached

there's a bit of wastage on the head and legs, because it used to be more complicated and i left a load of useless polys on there.

and yes it will very likely be game-ready.

sir cool, good topology. As you said, you can use the vertices of some areas even better. You seem to know what you do. So keep up the good work.

Ps.: Ignore el zilcho. He wants to steal your merit.

By the way, did Raven and you give up on that challenge, zilcho? That one sounded good.

yeah, i think we both just started to ignore it, probably hoping that the other would aswell lol. it would've been a big-mutha challange if we'd gone through with it, that building looked like quite a lot of work.

ps. oh no.. he's onto me, I disposed of this 'sir cool' chap so that he wouldn't reply to this thread and nobody would suspect a thing.

looks like i'll have to deal with 5louiz as well..

anyways, i'm now working on accessories, such as the spine holster [patent pending]

Reminds me of SnakeEyes from GI Joe. Great poly count so far, and you have some good edge loops. Should be easy to animate.

update

- changed proportions
- added spine holster
- added hands
- invented new weapon, the two forefingers are joined together in the suit. they act as a gun, just point and shoot.
- mask and face done.
- cleaned polies a bit.

also got a bit further with the machine he will hopfully be battling

there's a video of it attached.

The hand has like a ... 12-gon in there , it looks like the gun-addition was kind of rushed, I'd recommend fixing that up.

It is looking great, but I see a lot of un-necessary tris in there. You can make many of them quads for a cleaner mesh and it will reduce your poly count.

sloan, no, changing the model to use quads won't reduce the poly count because when DBP imports it, all it uses is tris (assuming that this is going to be used in a game)

yeah, in fact, it's more sensible to triangulate it yourself, otherwise some of the faces are ruined, ie, you get 20 edges converging to one vertex.

but yes, there are still lots of faces that don't really need to be there. I'm fixing em now.

cheers.

I should have asked what format your mesh would be in, first. I know some game engines use tris only...
