DarkFoil has done it again and created Firma Segment Maker V2! Here are some of the changes:

Texture Mixer:
* Preview windows are now 256x256. No more squinting at the screen when mixing textures.
* Added the ability to reposition the detail texture up, down, left and right.
* Added the ability to rotate the detail texture clockwise and anticlockwise.
* Added the ability to expand or shrink the detail texture.

Manipulating the detail texture can be done with both keyboard and mouse. This is great for adding graffiti. Because the texture mixer will work on any texture you are not limited to customising wall textures, I used it to add graffiti to the dumpster and semi trailer entities, and as the new texture is saved under a different name the original textures remain safely unaltered.

Room Creator
* Added a 'Room Type' button that opens a window displaying all the room segments available in the ww2 folder so that you can pick the segment type you want to work on. I added this because all the different room segments have slightly different profiles so you are no longer limited to having plain vertical walls.
* Added the option to automatically create a curved corner segment when a room segment is saved. The corner segment has the same texture as the inner wall of the room segment.

Another change I've made is that now all textures are saved at 512x512. In previous versions of Firma only textures created with the texture mixer were saved at this size.

Here are a few screen shots.

Attached is the download. Enjoy!

What with all the different versions of Firma I have I knew something like this would happen. V2 should now be up in the first post.

I get a problem (I shouldn't have uninstalled it just now) but it tells me that it can't find the path and crashes. Is it because my FPSC is on a drive other than C: ? The path itself is exact I'm sure, I just use G: for my game making and C: for my operating system and utilities.

Edit: It's the same problem as Big Viking has.

Thanks,

The wall creator doesn't create any new walls and there's no "Walls" folder under "Firma" folder. There's a problem with the textbox for entering names of new walls. Please check into these problems.

Great stuff Nickydude

This is just how an application should be!

Stable, useful and intuitive.

Will be using this for sure and despite most of us having already purchased signs by now, this is definately a worthwhile product.

I really thought I'd got the path setting code sorted out this time. I tested it out on two different pc's with the FPS Creator installed in non default locations on both and Firma worked fine. Ah well, back to the drawing board.

I tried the wall creator and the only issue I found was the "Text box". When you go to save your wall. You have to keep clicking in the text box to add a new letter. Outside of that everything else seems to work fine. Great program Darkfoil, Thanks

I get the 8003 error too.

EDIT: You should release the exe with a ini file with the paths the program uses so that we could edit them, then we didn't had this kind of error.

Right I've had another go at the path settings code to try and get it sorted and I've also fixed the bug reported by Hardcore. The attached patch will update Firma with the changes. Hopefully this will stop the Path not Found errors that occur.

@Darkfoil: I have a idea for V3. A mesh importer and door and window maker. Because segment editor you get from the main website is rubbish and crashy.

@ Big Viking Games. Glad it's finally working for you

I'm hoping that this means the Runtime Error 8003 bug has finally been cured.

Who said anything about a V3?

Hmm. Not sure I've got the programming skills to go much further with this. To be honest, I'm surprised that I've managed to make Firma as good as it is.

Maybe add a function so you could make doors and windows?
Could be great Then I dont need to retexture the stockdoors.

Maybe offtopic but if I want to put all the segemnts, signs etc in a pack, how should I do? I tried but I only got meshes in, not textures

I'm just in the process of doing a bit of tweaking to try and improve the quality of the textures that Firma produces. If I have any success I'll make another update available.

In response to a number of people asking how they go about sharing any segments they make with Firma I'm adding a tool that will create a 'Pack' from within the program. As soon as it's gone through a bit of testing I will release an update.
