Above is a link to where a guy in the German FPSC forums appears to be ripping off buttercutter,(the commercial picture has replaced the scissors with shears........

If I turn out to have misunderstood the whole thing, I'm sorry.
My German is quite basic.

Anyway I guessed ButterFingers would be interested to see a guy ripping off his work.....

You can read the entire site in english, though, if you run it through babel-fish.

I'm sure that one could also run various components through babel-fish, and get translations.

Oh well.

It's good to know I'm a trend setter. Even the germans and the French are biting my style! At least they're not just putting my product up on warez sites.

I don't really mind to be honest guys. There's not alot of info on the thread about whats in the pack. I doubt there will be as much stuff as in ButterCutter, but who knows?!

Ha! I just translated it, and the only bit that bugs me is this:

That is just wrong. It's difficult to think of new ideas and implement them. It's easy and sleazy to blatantly copy some one elses ideas. Shame on them and shame on the person that used butters cutters in the subject line of this post to promote it. To bad these people can't think on their own, then we might have a wide variety of things to choose from instead of cheap knock offs.

you're hoping right buddy.

so far I have:

flame pit, flame wall, and burning pipes in various shapes and sizes.
circular saws that move along the floor. A jackinthebox clown that pops out of the floor with a gun. moving spike walls (indiana jones style). Arrow traps from the walls. Scifi electric traps (similar to the flamey ones), there's gonna be a bunch more.

I'm really having a few issues keeping it simple. I think I may just have to include a manual that tells you how to set up the trigger zones etc to make it work.

They actually said that? There's a difference between a little competition and what they are doing. If they want to bother making their own version of ButterCutters, that's one thing...but what has Butters done to piss anyone off (besides make tools for the community and help out in many other areas)?

I was going to offer to put this tool up in the sticky in the Models and Media section, but not after a comment like that.

It sounds like that comment came from a forum user, and not necessarily the re-creator of the not-yet-re-created program. Time will tell what it and it's creator turn out to be, as no one has even seen it yet.

I am sure if someone copied FPSCreator Lee would not be happy with all the research and hard work he put into it. But, good to know you don't care if any of your unique work that goes up for sale gets copied.

All this whining about copying when butters himself said he's cool with it (excepting that anti-butter-fingers comment) seems silly to me. Should we get rid of all MP FPS games because they copy Doom? Saying it is not comparable is silly as well. How is it not comparable? Agreed. That was extremely racist. My best friend is German, he doesn't go around drawing nazi (I don't capitalize nazi) symbols or talking about killing Jewish and such. That was a stupid mistake, joking or not.

I think a formal apology is needed here. I didn't mean to offend, and I certainly didn't mean to be racist. I wasn't thinking about the impact of my words. As usual, I was making what I thought to be a light joke. When I think of Germany, I naturally think of WWII. Not in a bad way, just word association. I am aware of Nazism from 1939-45 and the stranglehold it had on an innocent country, but at the time of writing, this simply didn't occur to me.

But anyway, I apologise and will think before I speak in the future.
