Well, I recently got my new Windows Vista computer complete with an awesome 8800 GTS video board and a quad core proccessor. So, of course, I started up FPSC (off my portable HD) to see how it would run.

Created lightmaps in a flash - literally like 5 seconds for a dozen lights. Haven't tested it with shaders yet, but ran a level with around 25 enemies active AT ONCE shooting me and fully responding. All at 33 fps constant. I'll get a vid soon, but its unbeliveable.

I'll try with shaders next and try to get a vid - but lemme tell ya, if you have this rig, any lag problems with FPSC are GONE.

Specific Details:

Again, I'll try to get a vid soon - I'm just in awe of the performace boost over my 7600. Probably the fact its PCIE, lol.

I got Camtasia (the free offer) but I'm having troubles with it. I got a video recorded (it doesn't show in game well, as the video recording fps was like 5 and I can't figure out how to fix it, but it shows just how fast it is to render lights) but I can't seem to get the studio to work. I'll fiddle with it somemore...

You should maybe try using Fraps, but if it's not what you like, fiddle with Camtasia...

I use CamStudio which has no effect whatsoever on my framerate.

Well I have Camtasia too and what worked best for me was making the window smaller so that it wouldn't have to record the whole screen. Well you can't see that much but hey it beats no seeing anything.

Beh, I thought I almost had things working well, but FPSC ended up crashing when I tried to smooth out the vid. I'll try to get it later, I'm doing a massive download right now anyways...
