This is kinda a dumb question, but I just can't seem to find a free program that can make a uv map out of a texture that will apply perfectly on a sphere (using a seamless texture I made). Could anyone help me with this?

That's because you don't make a UV Map out of a texture; you make it from a model, like a sphere. You need download a modeler (probably any free one, since you only want a sphere), then select sphere mapping in the UV mapper.

Well, actually you CAN. If you look at a texture for planet (like in Scraggle's planet pack), it's bent at the edges, so that when you put it on a sphere in DBP, it works perfectly.

I have tried Blender, but I get jagged edges at the top and bottom of the sphere because the uv grid goes off the image when I'm mapping it. It's kind of hard to explain, but it just does not work.

I found a plugin to do what you want ( I think ) a while back. I'll see if I can find it. It should work in PhotoShop, Paint Shop Pro, or any other paint tool that uses plugins (Gimp etc.)
