I was thinking, using the rail shooter tutorial that I made, and the RC scripts that Seth Black made, couldn't you give the illusion of a third person shooter? If you aren't following me, lemme break it down for you.

Give a character the RC script, so that the player can control it, but change the keys to WASD.
Have the rail shooter platform work, but without waypoints. Have it follow the character instead. (This part is not completely proven, because I don't know how to script well enough to have the platform follow the character.)

The only thing that would be off is the control of the camera. You couldn't control where the character looked, and if you used the mouse, you would go off screen. Otherwise, the idea should work... Theoretically, right?

I hope that this idea, although very incomplete, can help someone think of a way to make a third person shooter out of a first person shooter creator. I know the program isn't supposed to do this, but since when do people use things only for what their supposed to be used for...

People bought FPSC to make FPS games!

But yes, the idea should theoretically work. However one of the main aspects of a third person game is, of course the camera - imagine playing your favourite 3rd person game with a camera that doesn't move... it would be hard...

don't forget the engine source is available to download and rewrite in DBPro.

And i don't know if Gunn3r has spent £50 on DBPro.......

Even so, you would have to revert back to V1.0.

Ok. Can I tell you the meaning of FPSC? FPSC means First Person Shooter Creator, so it will never have the option to be a third person shooter unless like Cipher said you can edit its source code found from the fpsc website.

@chees hed, Don't worry about it. It was a thought that I hadn't finished until long after I posted.

@Deathead, I did mention that using that method would not be using the program as intended, and I do know that I can edit the source to create this third person shooter creator, but I don't have DBP, and don't know DB, so I don't want to jump into the source code not knowing what the heck I'm doing...

I have an idea.....

All you need is weapon creator. Make a weapon with a character as the model. Make sure the character has a gun in their hand. Then position the character to the center of the screen, and it will sort of look like a TPS.

Yeah... until the player decides that they want to look around the room and their character ends up floating around in front of them, lol.

actually that could work if you had a RE4 type view than it would look like the player is looking around. then you could have different weapons by making the same character model on each weapon and then the weapons in his/her hand would just switch. and when you move you could have the "gun" doing a walking animation, ( since now when you move your weapon moves, just do the same thing buut make the character look like he is walking ). so that is actually a good idea and if i had a weapon maker that worked for x10 i would do that.

what doesn't kill me makes me stronger; but if something kills me, I'm not that strong am I?
