is it possible to make a enclosed elevator if so how? i know rolfy had made one but i have no idea how he pulled it off also would it be possible to have a dynamic hatch on the roof of the elavator that can open close?

maybe you could model it with an animation for the opening of the hatch then apply the elevator script to it with the script to open stuff. I don't have that script so search around

...rolfy's is an effect. I don't know that he has revealed how he achieved it yet.

It is not possible for the player to get within a dynamic object, due to the collision box that is formed by the engine. This is why vehicles haven't been implemented as of yet.

The appearance of a real elevator can of course be done using segments. Simply create some interior elevator textures and make them into segments, or a "room". You can make the features as complicated as you like, with the player having to push a button on the wall, key in a number, whatever. You can create a delay for the doors and car movement, play an elevator sound or music, whatever you like. Then simply transport the player into another (duplicate) elevator on another floor, the door opens and presto! The writing on the wall say's he's arrived.

The only problem I see is how the player is facing when he transports. Sometimes, the player direction is changed during transport, so while he was facing the side of the elevator when he pushed the button, he may be facing the front when he arrives in the new location.

There may be a way to fix that too, but I don't know.

The elevator created by s4 and myself is no effect nor is the player transported,you do in fact, step inside an enclosed lift and rise in the normal way.
If your elevator does not have windows there is no need for a true 'enclosed box' and xplosys method would work fine.

Tried something similar with vehicles. That didn't work well at all.

...perhaps, if the movement allowed isn't restricted to vertical rise and fall only.

On the experiments that I was doing with vehicles, I was able to get the roof to remain in place, it was the sides that yielded diappointment.

It's not so easy to measure best in game creation because there are so many areas and both are skilled in most of them.

In my opinion. Rolfy has the edge in modelling, texturing and animating. Butters for features, concepts and being able to implement them successfully.

Anyways back to the elevator. Rolfy said the script is a modified version of xplosys 'manual_lift.fpi' and released some free animated elevator doors so start with those.

I don't think the working version he and s4real created is likely to be given away but maybe if you ask nicely he'll explain the process.

Its pretty complex method to get it to work hence it was never released but yes u can go into any dynamic object like a helicopter.
