well, i finally got around to making some changes to my old human model. Before i texture and rig it, i want some honest critique. to me, it seems like something is slightly off.

and for now, i'm leaving off hair.

The first thing that stands out are the armpits, I think they need pulling in and up a little. Depends of course on wether this guy is wearing clothes or not?

On a second look the back half of the feet are very blocky.

And thirdly he has Mr. Spock ears, fine if hes an elf (or elve)but then I would say hes prolly a bit too chunky.

hope that helps a bit. very nice though./

You made that with anim8or? Good job, Penfold pretty much pointed out all that I saw, although the face looks really odd, and the hands seem to flat

try using refarance images. the eyes are to high, hands are too flat and the torso looks too tall. overall the topology looks OK, except for the feet and head

ok, im sorry because i forgot to mention that he is wearing shoes, that is why his feet look so blocky

i tweaked the ears a little, shifted the face(especially the eyes) downyard, adjusted the torso, rib cage, and hands

this is a more correct way to structure a face, as you can see there's far fewer polygons. always try to avoid poles(vertacies with more or less than 4 edges) with more than 5 edges going into them. and read up on edge loops.

this tutorial is good

ok, i made some changes to the face:

-slightly less wider mouth
-eyes closer in just a tiny bit
-some facial adjustments for less polys

i think its improved a lot, thanks for the help! any last recommendations before i start texturing it?

it looks good, except the face is still far to flat, there's tuns of triangles and the edge loops are all over the place. Start again on the head, use fount/side refarance images and structure the mesh simmaler to image above. That mesh would be very dificult to UV unwrap. the section under the armpit from the side view also needs some atension, this wouldn't animate very well..

hearses anouther model for example, its not human, but isn't that different in terms of mesh structure, the main deliverance is i redirected some edge loops to form the pointy chin. these would normally go around under the mouth.

side view.

I know the eyes are not in the centre of the face. this was done deliberately to make it less human.
