Hello,

first time for me to post in the 3d forum. I usually don't post much about my projects, but here is one of my latest works, http://darkbasicpro.thegamecreators.com/?m=gallery_view&i=855

Anyway I'm finishing up my character mesh and will start the UV map soonish. Usually at this point I know how the character should look like, but at the moment I lack of ideas, or could use some more opinions. The character is supposed to wear some kind of ninja outfit.
Sure, some of you might say now, "ninja's are black", ok but we don't always have to go with the standard.

Well...I'm curious about your ideas.
If worse comes to worse I'll go with the standard black

My god, this model just made me loose all confidence in myself, anyways, can we see the wireframe?

If someone says "pls" because it is shorter than "please" I say "no" because it is shorter than "yes"...

@Irradic-First off awesome model. Second what atomsphere is he ( the ninja) going to be in? Like black is accustomed to night and tan could be accustomed to desert atomsphere ninja and green ninja for a forest environment. What I'm trying to say you could go with army styles where they blend in or just be creative and texture and color each piece of garment he wears something different as long as it looks good. All the best,

Maybe something similar to this? Kinda greenish blackish(I have no idea what anime/manga that character is from though. Just found him on google)

@Alucard94 - Thanks ! Will post your request little later

@Beast E Gargoyle - Thanks ! The environment is rather darkish, but not necessarily during night. First location is in a castle in the mountains. But the stealth aspect isn't that important.
I guess I will try around a bit and start with black. As you said, as long as it looks good.

If you guys have any ideas, please post ! Thanks

@Alucard94 - I think it's from Naruto. I will try some different patterns on the vest. Making it all black would look boring. Thanks for the pic !

here, i wiped up a quick drawing for you. i think it would be pretty cool if your ninja had some more "ceremonial" looking designs sown into his dark clothes. so, he can still be hidden in the dark, but he can look more intimidating in the light

i didnt finish it completely, but you get the idea. mostly blacks, dark grays, and very dark browns. with some dark reds and golds sown in as design.

and, on the strap across his chest, i think it would be cool to have a long line of symbols. i wasnt really sure what to put there, because i dont know if ur ninja is japanese, chinese, ect. so, i just scribbled there.

hope you like it

@jasonhtml - Thanks a lot ! Comes close to my idea, was planning to use embossed symbols on the armor parts. The dark brown colors remind me of Tenchu.

Which is a very cool design

@Xenocythe - Thanks a lot. Glad you like my stuff.

Anyway...decided to go with the samurai theme after all. I wanted something...well a little bit more colorful, guess that would have just looked off on a ninja. It's coming along and I started the facial texture today. I made a test render and wanted to share it with you guys. Still lots of stuff to do, but I'm a bit busy with work at the moment. Finished most of the clothes textures though.

I did apply turbosmooth on the face for the render, the blue thing is the sword...like I said still got stuff to do.
Hope you like it...

henry ham and Beast E Gargoyle - thanks a lot guys.
i was thinking about creating a model pack after I have completed work on this model. probably 3-4 characters, usable in fpsc and dbpro.
don't know which genres are desired though, sci fi, fantasy ?

Well I wanted have this done a week ago, before I start the paid projects. But I was a bit lazy the past week and didn't do all too much 3d stuff after work. Lazerus I did check Turbosquid, 50% royalty minus 30% withholding tax (for people outside the US w/o necessary papers). Wasn't too thrilled about that offer.
Anyway, I took a short break from the commissions to do the rest of the textures. I will definitely redo the edge seams of the vest, the stitches turned out too large. Well there are some other things that I will retouch, but that will have to wait for now. Once I'm done I will post a screen capture from the character, inside darkshader, with normal map and spec.

Cheers !

Very finely done Irradic! The sword handle seems a bit basic; maybe add a small design. Keep up the great work.

@Beast E Gargoyle - That's maybe because the sword has no texture map yet Just wanted to get the character maps done for now. I wouldn't model the detail into the handle, that's what the textures are there for. Thanks for the compliment !

@Aaagreen - Thanks a lot ! I will post a wireframe once I have joined both halves of the model. At the moment one side is just an instance. Still have to optimize some things as well.

Work on my own project has stalled since I've been busy with other things. On the pic you can see my samurai character inside DBPro,
I used limbs to assign different shaders. I'm quiet happy with the outcome. Hope I can continue work on it soon.
