No matter what options I set in the export screen, or if I load it into Anim8or as well and rexport it, it is always dark in Dark Basic Pro. If I select "no smooth" in the .x exporter it shows some signs of light, but it's still so dark, and without that option it appears to have no lighting whatsoever, even if I change the ambient light in DBP.

I think you have to texture blender models in order for them to be seen. I am not so sure though, I only know darkGDK.

Got it! Not sure if it was a thread or I just happened to see it or something, but I found that these two commands work nicely, along without positioning and pointing light 0 (as a spot light):
