Now that I realize I have the skills to make almost anything I want in XSI, I've decided it's time to re-make my favorite sword

Once I actually start making the game that I've been dreaming up for this thing I'll obviously have to make it again, but I'm doing it right now because I can.

Started hating the way the hilt came out, so I thought back to how I did it the very first time. I realized that way back when, I had formed the hilt out of an octagon, so I used a seven-sided shape and extruded with that rather than making it with a cube and beveling the edges (which pushed the polycount way up). Redesigned the horns a bit to make it a little more true to the original.

dude, you should bevel out the heart. Then that would be cool. As you can have like a diamond heart for that area.

Naw, that's just supposed to be a thicker, flat part of the blade—which, I dare to mention, is supposed to be a very white and shiny kind of metal I was thinking about putting some kind of silver-ish or light-grey emblem on it though.

I was also thinking about putting some kind of carved writing going around the hilt, like I had on my original. As per the original details, the hilt will be gold, as will the weighted parts of the handle, and the handle itself will be wrapped up tight in a deep kind of royal blue-ish leather. The thingy coming out of the back will be like a ruby or something.

Texture is done, it's a bit simplistic but that's just because there aren't supposed to be a whole lot of details on this, mainly solid metals.

This is a shot of the exported .x version, without the materials as DirectX Viewer displays it.

Here's a smaller pic from XSI.

ModTool only lets me get a maximum 512x512 resolution for renders.

Some details will be added with a normal map, shot in DBP to come.

Remember those old guys? They made epic renders, I think one of them was called DaVinci, and all they used was MS Paint. Sometimes it's just skill....

This sword AGAIN?! SHAME ON YOU!
Okay no, not really ^^ Great model man, and even if the texture is really simple it fits it fine, although maybe grunge up the blade and the handle a bit
Great job!

If someone says plz because it's shorter than please I say no because it's shorter than yes
