yo hows everyone today
im good, had some pizza and am half way done my game!

anyway!

now that the levels are done , the voices recorded , and the music prepared. im now converting them with switch, an audio program that will convert the windows media file or whatever movie maker makes, and turns it into the WAV sounds that fpsc uses. unfortunately it will take 5 mb aka about 3 minutes of sound and turn it into 100 MEGABYTES of the same sound!!!

does fpsc use any other file formats? i cant have a 1 gb audio bank!

FPSC supports OGG as well, which compresses better than MP3. If you have Audacity or GoldWave, to name a few of many sound editing programs, you can save the sound files in OGG-format. Hope that helps.

Use .ogg file format (Audacity will save in that format) sounds are waaaaay smaller.

Edit: @Roger - snap!

No, but Multiplayer is one giant bug.

And, and I think *.ogg is better then *.mp3, also because *.mp3 can't be used commercial without paying royalties to the creator of the format...

Not sure about that. If you made the mp3 format i'm sure you might want some easy money.

Hope to see you ingame.

Yeah, read the *.mp3 lisence. Its actually clever really, and because of this, most commercial games do not use *.mp3, but either *.ogg or their own Music Format.(Which is most likely just a converted or renamed *.ogg)

I know, I guess they made an agreement to the guy that made the *.mp3 format, or they pay royalties for it.

seriously! what about mp3 players ah well. OGG IT IS
because WAV is far to large 100 mb = 3 minutes of sound
and because MP3 requires buying the privilidge to us it!

Remember that using OGG you won't be able to use 3D sound.

Yeah, because the Enchancements pack for DBP does load *.ogg, but DBP does not recognize it as a 3D sound Compatible file, as its loaded through a different system.

Oh. That kinda sucks. But at least you can keep the filesize down on the music, which I think isn't treated as 3D-sounds anyways.

The fact that mp3 is royalty covered is kinda lame to me. I do have to give credit for the guy that is getting royalties off of a file format... If you are trying to put music in, use ogg, as music doesn't have to be 3D. If you are putting in custom sound effects, it looks as though you have no choice...

It is stupid indeed, however he must have had a reason for it. Or he just wanted some quick money.

Pretty smart investment, however you look at it.
Anyway, any music that I make will be in ogg because it's small and supported by FPSC.
