Hello there!
Just thought that I should show my hand that I have been working on last nigth. I think it is starting to look acceptable. But I am still working on the texture.

Please leave C&C That will help me make it better.

The model looks kind of boxy, but I think it will look better later on.

...*bangs on table* BUMP MAP!
it'll make it look better and more elevated, you can use VTF edit to create normal maps you know, and vtf is free, but vtf edit was mainly made for cs source and other source engine games such as portal, hl2, and tf2...

looks good too, but the hand needs more colour definition, looks pale.

Umm.. That's not very advanced english?
Add the red edge loop and scale it out to round the hand off and (if not added already) add the blue ones and pull them up
If you don't understand this I guess I could say it in Swedish if that would help.

Bump mapping is done in your 3d modeling program. You take your texture and make it black and white, anything that is dark will look inset and everything lighter will look pushed out.

Okej, kolla på min bild, ser du den röda linjen som jag ritade i mitten av handen? Lägg till den loopen och förstora den lite för att göra den större, sen ta och lägg till (om de inte redan finns där) de kanterna som jag målade i blått.

Hope you got that a bit easier

And thank you for the spam cong...
-edit-

you edited you'r post, you had every smiley there... every emocation! there! dont do it again. or I think the mods may pull you up on it 0_0

anyway....

-back to topic.-

and dont bump map in gimp either! vtf edit!

http://www.fpsbanana.com/tools/2897

you can load in a normal texture and in matter of seconds you can make a normal map, I use it all the time, its free, not heavy, and is also... fast

Spam has to be the most disgusting thing that's allowed to be called "food" ever created. EVER.

I quite like spam. I wouldn't eat it Raw, but its nice grilled or fried.
Actually, after seeing that tin of spam... I have a slight craving for some.

The hand model is a good start, The fingers are a little uneven, but you have the basic shape there.

I think most people can agree that the hardest things to model/draw are hands.

Update!
I remade the whole model from scratch, Now it looks much better I think. Still not done with the mesh but you can see the shape.

Now the mesh is done, and also made a texture for it. I think it looks a lot like the Modelpack 6 hands by Simon Benge, I wonder if we used the same reference pic

The hand looks great, the finger and the thumb especially, although I'd say that the top of the hand is quite flat, maybe just rounding it off a little bit would make it a lot nicer.
Good job

Here's a hand I just modeled right now for this example, see the edgeflow for the thumb and the general hand and the bends on the fingers.
