Yes indeed, this is going to be awesome! You should try your hands at either more people like him or some demons!

If you get mad and want to type something nasty about another person do this-Type what you want to say in the box then press ctrl-a and hit delete then type what you should say.

A blind man once asked me to describe a color, I simlpy replied, you cannot describe a color, only feel it. The blind man became frustrated and angry so i camly said, that was red-Conor Bell

Just buy all his models then *nudge*. I'm looking around the store now and JFletcher's models look like they will fit in well with this.

Hehe, thanks. I was feeling a little apathetic about finishing the chainsaw version this past week because of poor model sales all around for the month of August, and stagnant sales on the Boss Commando - which took a lot of work to make. But I figured the character was still good enough on it's own as a standard character, so I released this version first. The chainsaw version is fully rigged now, so expect to see it on the store next week.

How many polys does the entire thing contain? I've yet to create a character myself and I'm curious about the limits of an animated model.

Depends what engine you use?
(Dont know if FPSC is considered as an engine?)
But with FPSC you can create animated characters from:
- 500 polys,
To even 5000 if i am right?
(not that i ever reached that polycount)
I created a character with a polycount of 3000..and it worked fine.

Would you mean polygons as in tris or as in quads?

When I give poly counts I'm referring to triangles. This character has about 3500 triangles, the chainsaw has about 1800. I've gone all the way up to about 5000 triangles with no problem either.

Poly count isn't really a factor anymore on modern graphics cards (8800 series and up), not as much as they used to be anyway. It's shader effects and number of textures that are more a limiting factor now. There's an interesting discussion on this on the polycount boards, and a white paper from Nvidia on the subject too, if you enjoy reading about this stuff as much as I do.

Its abit odd. Most Next-gen consoles consider Tris as Polygons but some consoles like the DS recongnizes Quads as Polygons.

Tris are polygons and Quads are polygons, polygon is more of the general name of a "face", there are just different definitions for faces depending on how many sides that that specific face has, three sided ones are defined as "triangles" and four sided ones as "Quads" and faces with more than 4 sides are usually spoken of as "N-Gons", where the N represents a certain number of edges. They're still polygons.
I just meant that question as if the person asking what the general poly count for a "game environment " meant poly count as in Triangle count or as in Quad count, as the triangle count of a model is usually somewhere close to double the quad count in numbers, so depending on what he meant there would be somewhat different numbers.

It's so realistic, that i get heart attack every time when i look at those images!

Some questions:

What program you used to create this?

What program you used to create those ultra-realistic textures?

Why my zombies and monsters are not so good?

Last was not very good question, becase i know that you are God!

@Jesper: I'll try to answer. Hope I'm right...
For models he uses 3ds MAX and Mudbox. For textures he uses Photoshop.
And about your models - just make more of them. After some time they'll get better...
Hope you won't mind that I have answered, not Bond... ^^

At autodesk website... $299 for non-commercial or $649 for commercial use. You may also try ZBrush, which is $595 and it does the same. Both have a trial version ...

I couldn't resist posting one more pic of him, holding his chainsaw in the middle of his walk cycle, baring his teeth. For his run cycle, he'll be holding it a little higher. Animating is going pretty fast!

Yeah I don't think so either, especially since it's a tool that helps me earn income. I know a plumber, and you don't want to know how much HIS tools cost to do his job! It's taken awhile, but my software purchases have long since paid for themselves - and they are a tax deduction.

yes plumbers tools might cost alot but in liverpool a (5/8) plumber dosent actully do his job lol they just sit around with there head under the sink saying 'yep theres something definalty wrong here' hitting the pipes with a hammer (out of the 8, 2 done that)

btw that was one company on a program called rouge traders , a hidden camera show(no offense to your friend)

is a lot to some but if bond1 put this chainsaw monster in the fpsc store for 5000 point then he would only have to sell about 120 to cover the cost of commercial 3dmax and if you have ever looked in fpsc store you will see he has more than 1 item, most models with up to 100 sales (this guy is loaded) wise i had this guys skill to make money... I mean models!

Thanks Thraxas! He is now fully animated, all I have to do now is sync up the sound effects to match the animations, and plug it into a script. Hopefully have this wrapped up tomorrow.

I don't know if you've seen that first controversial Gears of War 2 trailer that was deemed too violent - well this guy makes that look like child's play. Definitely not for kids! It'll be interesting to see if this gets approved for the store - otherwise I might have to sell this one on my own. It is brutal, like watching a horrible accident where you can't look away.

Ok so I bit the bullet and decided to finally add the blood, I usually try and avoid blood on my horror characters because I think it's a cop-out, and usually try to make them grotesque in other ways, but I think it really makes sense for this one, obviously.

Next update will probably be in the FPSC forums, yay!
