I've been playing about with my copy of ShaderMap Pro and getting shaders into FPSCX10. It's going quite well thanks to Nomad and his crew's guide but I have a bit of a problem.

The shaders work but the entities I apply them to always come out ridiculously bright whether they are in a light or not. Which shader map should I change and how should I change it?

So far it's got a _N, a _S, a _D, and of course a _d2. I don't think I can send them to anyone because the texture is the plinth out of MP2. See the attached screen for more info.

oh ok thats a good reason i guess no idea what you can try many people round here wont be abel to help as we dont usually use shaders and edit them. I do use them a bit but im not sure what you mean to me it doesn't look very dark and it should become darker in background.

i'm not editing the shaders... ShaderMap makes the maps for the shaders, not the shaders themselves. I have no idea how to make shaders. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

I need to know which map I need to edit in order to make them become darker towards the background.

I'd say it's a problem with the specular map. If the specular map doesn't have a transparent alpha layer over it, it will appear bright even in a dark room (it's mentioned briefly in Nomad's guide). I've had that problem happen to me a few times... so it's either that or it doesn't have a specular map.

Make sure your alpha channel is 50% Transparent and all Black in the Specular map and it should fix your problem.

Hope this helps
