Lowest: about 112.

Highest: about 341.

(And note that if I looked up in the "sky" I would get over 4000 fps.)

I get around 30 fps on my lappy and it isn't that bad. 1.66ghz core 2 duo, 8400m nvidia, 2gb ram, xp but I can play HL2 on mostly max settings (including AA) and it doesn't lag and it goes 60fps ???

Thanks Bergice, dont forget this is uncapped sync rate and a very optomistic DBpro screen fps().All the textures and bumpmaps are in the media folder in the download, feel free to use them. The next update will be sync rate 60 just to level things up a bit.

200-500 walking around, 2,000 max

Your monitor can't actually draw 4000 frames per second, that's how many cycles the game loop goes through though. The human eye can only detect 32 frames per second, and it's been my experience in games that anything over 65 fps looks exactly the same. The only reason 60 fps looks smoother than 30 is because it means it will always be in sync with your eye, as opposed to 30 where it might not always line up exactly.

Well surely then 60 loops in a second of a code will be faster than 30? So anything above 32 will appear smooth, but with a machine it'd run faster. (As it deals with more than just rendering, 'move object 1' 60 times in 1 second is further than 30 times in 1 second)

80fps and 150 fps on this demo is quite noticeable in game speed.

But for a game the rate should be capped and kept at a constant rate, 60 is usually the compromise.

I suggest you make the movement timer based. That was just too hard to walk through. It was too quick. Had a steady FPS of 'round 150.

I agree, timer based movement would be awsome!

Newest virsion attatched, capped at 60 fps, with all the targets and paintballs in,only minor updates from now on because ive get to get some work done on the level editor that goes with this.Hopefully in time it will develop in to a multi-player who shoots the most targets wins type of thing,i all ready have quite i bit of the code in other projects, just need to adapt it to this.Try it and let me know what you get.If you didnt know all ready, space makes you jump, and you can get high enough to get on top the maze, bit of a bug,but it looks good up there. Thanks
