Unfortunately CharacterFX has no forums of its own, so I'm hoping someone here has experience with it.

I'm trying to import a .3ds model from Blender. However, it isn't showing up. I'm not even sure if it's importing correctly, because SELECT ALL tells me that no vertices are selected. I tried scaling everything a bunch, panning around with the camera - no luck.

Anyone got importing from Blender to work?

well, i've not had any good experiences with .3ds files, i'll tell you that right now. my suggestion is to use only .x files with CFX. other things to make sure:

1. the normals are correct
2. the model is triangulated (CFX really hates nontriangulated models for some reason)

I find that it's a case of the package used to export them, the 3DS format has some wild variations out there, but everytime I use a mesh exported from 3D Studio Max, it works perfectly.

Perhaps using the old DBConv converter and importing the X file as Jason says will do the trick. Otherwise I'd look into other formats, I think CharacterFX supports .OBJ as well, which is a much more straightforward and easily supported file format I believe.

I tried an OBJ, it wouldn't even open, it gave me a wierd error message. I'll try .X, I didn't think CharFX supported it.

Edit: CFX doesn't have an option to import .X files - only .3DS, .OBJ, and Milkshape .TXT. I tried to force it to open the .X and it told me "Obsolete format - resave."
