i think if there is one it should be pretty central... like say Nottingham or Luton (yeah yeah i know neither are really central)

Luton would probably be better as it actually has an Airport, so people can take the £20-30 flights from thier closest city
even the guys in ireland without having to worry about another few hours of driving

i always thought it was called the NEC Arena ... hmm
would've thought a pub would've been cool, but then would have to realise not everyone is old enough to drink - plus beer & computers generally don't mixx well

but i doubt we need something as big as an arena for it.
should probably rent out somewhere like Homelands (not the nightclub)
somewhere which can fit like 50-60peeps if nessisary, with computer space.
And a Lan place would be pretty perfect as it'll already have computers there that you could installed and show games on (plus presetup LAN networking inc. Server for the Multiplayer games)

just an idea ofcourse

Unfortunately, we either need a sponsor, or charge ~£20 per person. I'm with Mr TAToad though, don't really care where it is provided it's somewhere in the middle, and near an airport...

i think we need to pay some thing to like £5 to get in.there a trave logen down the road that cost £35 per day for a convention room so it may not cost a lot to set up.it just how what to do it?

I think it should be in Hull, its sort-of central, it's big, and has lots of cheap places offering convention rooms (with expensive posh ones too, if you want).

And i'd have to say that it wouldnt work without lager. Beer and computer's do mix

Unfortunately, if it wasnt very close to Hull (and i'm 99% sure it wont be, it'll probably be in manchester anyway), then i wouldnt have no means of getting there lol. Ohwell.

i`m from hull orgen. (god let not have it there).

i think manchester,leeds or birmingham all are a lot better to get to for most ppl then london.

I will travel to anywhere in the UK provided its hosted near an airport. In Manchester city center there is a huge internet cafe(easyEverything) with more than 300pcs in there but then again i dont know the graphical capabilities of these machines.

@ Raven, NEC arena is in Birmingham :p

HEY!, if you wanted it to be in Manchester there is conference suite for 75 people in the filmworks cinema in manchester which is in the printworks building practivally next door to the MEN arena.

Two different thing,s Raven. NEC in birmingham, MEN is a big concert hall sort of arena in Manchester. Used to be called the nynex arena, until manchester eneving news sponsored it, I think.

and Dave that might be why i was getting confused - didn't know the manchester arena was called the MEN.

i think a ferry to N.Irelands like £5-£15 something like that, not alot and only takes an hr or so.
not sure why you think i'd be risky toady, i'm sure it'd be cool.
i mean c'mon i was all over N.Ireland for 5days no trouble what-so-ever ... and you know if any trouble was gonna start it'd be with a drunken Raven at the centre of it

be just as expensive as anywhere really, you know it costs less to fly from Luton to Belfast International than it does to take a train to Manchester ... and you know you'll get there within the day too

I'll let you know - should be getting a brochure tomorrow/Saturday (hopefully), with prices. Depending on the prices and an estimated number of people who would want to come down to sunny Chichester, would determine how viable it is.

Whilst I wouldn't want to make a profit (although my Ferengi side would like too), I won't be able to make a loss.

This was October 2002, with Virgin:
- £400 train (first class mind, we needed it)
- £180 shuttle to gatwick with BA

First class on a train is basically normal but with different coloured slightly nicer seats. Why would you need to go first class?

Getting cheap train tickets is a bit of an art form what with all the offers varying ticket prices and staff who don't usually have a clue.

now a days in you get First class becos you can get a sit down.one a hand to stand from leeds to birmingham, and i`v herd of ppl that have hand to stand from london to banger.so in summery.

First class=sit down
Nomel class=you may be able to sit down

Chich is kinda down and to the left of london like 40-50miles if i remember right... (not actually that far from where Lee & Rick are from thinking about it)

You are more or less correct, Raven...

Depending on who (or what) I can get depends on slightly on the format, although I was thinking it could generally go along like the American one...

The starting place is price of the venues themselves. Hopefully they'll be reasonable - as I'm sure you lot wont want to pay too much.

A Provisional date would be 27/28 September (Saturday & Sunday).

Places to stay would be up to you - there are plenty of hotels, guesthouses and Travellodge around here too.

Okay, from a cursory ringaround (on company time of course), a two day conference room hire works out at around £300 or something around £30 per person.

There are a few more places I need to get details from, so this may change.

Now, the important thing is : How many people want to come (assuming Rich, Lee et al want to come) ?

Just for the record I live in Northern Ireland!, and I have paid many visits to some of the cities in England, and England is bar far the more dangerous place of the two to go out in.

First class you get enough room for us to put all the bags.

First class you can sit (as mentioned earlier)

First class in needed as from here to London its about 3 hours.

And I'm not sure on this but I odn't think you can book specific seats on normal... not sure.
