Um, have you ever seen the stickies? We hold official 3D compo's all the time.

I know, but the aim of this was to draw in some lesser skilled modelers, while the higher skilled ones would prefer the larger comps

Sorry mate, I don't think it'll work out, as the official 3D compo's have no restriction to skill level.

Also, what use is your sci-fi dropship model to anyone? As I recall you mentioned it was about 180,000 polies. What do you expect them to do with an untextured, high-poly sci-fi model? Not trying to be critical about the model, it's very nice, but I just don't see it as being a real prize.

Well it wasnt meant to be a material thing, what i meant was if you get lots of great modelers in the official compo, it might put of some of the new users from giving it a go, sorry if this is useless or whatever, i just thought it up for the lesser skilled modelers

well, personally, I like the idea, I'd love to get my hands on that model

I'd imagine it'd be pretty good to learn from.

Also, it probably won't be un-textured, because if the map isn't stupid, I'll be having a go at it

I tasted the rainbow once...it tastes like leprechauns and £1 coins.
