Executor,
How do I donate?
I have PayPal, and need instructions.

Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the heck is the ceiling.

trogdor,
Look at the very first post!

I just sent a donation for GG to Ian via paypal.

This has to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen done on a message board. GG is very deserving!

Aye, me too. But for some reason it's the Protoss narrations that stuck in my head.

GG, I promise, when I get any money... it'll go to you

My Paypal account has been limited due to some supposed third party access, so I have contributed via Batvink's method. I love the idea behind this. There is nothing that can't be achieved when the intent and resources of the people are collected

All members of TGC forums, give yourself a pat on the back, you are part of the change.

@ GG - Well deserved. All we are doing here is trying to employ the selflessness that you demonstrate. Your help goes well beyond shaders.

regards,
Greenlig

I still can't believe this.

Just had a peek at Visigoth's first post:

Quote: "The longer this goes on, the longer GG has to wait, which has to be agonizing,"

That was true until I read:

Quote: "and the longer WE have to wait for him to start playing with Shader Models 3 and 4"

Give me a chance, I've only just mastered the set blend mapping on command!

Quote: "You do all know SM 4.0 allows geometry creation and deletion don't you? Imagine the possibilities...."

I suddenly feel rather faint...

There was talk earlier of a photo. Be reassured, there will be a BEFORE photo of me slaving away on this machine - and an AFTER photo of me sunning myself in The Caribbean...

It'd be nice if the users who did make a profit from GG's stuff did donate, but you can't blackmail them. GG released his shaders for free, out of his great spirit and kindness, and you would expect that people would see it as common courtesy to repay him for all the help.

All i'm saying is yes, you are right - they should donate, but naming names/blackmail? We're not 5 years old.

Maybe it's because these people/organizations don't read the forum. You can't pass judgment so easily.

Visigoth, I know your comments were well-intentioned but I'd much prefer it if we maintained the spirit of people helping each other out in any way that they see fit. The fact that many people, including some who I know don't have much to spare, have freely donated to my "cause" is more than enough - and is enormously appreciated (as are the kind comments and thanks received from many who haven't donated).

Please let's keep it that way.

I hope you mean the PC.

Anyway, we have. Have a look at Mistrel's posts a page or so back. The system he's suggested is more or less what I'm going to go for - I've just got to settle a couple of things with him first.

Mistril was suggesting a build-to-order type system, not for GG to order individual parts.

27 named donations, anonymous donations are not included in that list, that's why they're anonymous.

Well, I can't donate, but I can suggest a good rig. I'm running an HP Pavilion a6112n, dual booting Vista and XP with 410 gb HDD, 3 gb of ram, ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics card, AMD 64 processor, and I picked it up on ebay for about $250. Which leaves some room for upgrading if need be. Just a suggestion because it seems to be a great computer for anyone that needs that little boost to run their games and such.

I think whoever can get the parts cheapest should be sent the money to buy the components and then build the PC and send it to Green Gandalf.
Just a thought.

I would think whatever you might save in parts, you would lose in shipping.

Of course I'm not familiar with shipping costs, or parts costs for that matter, in the UK.

Here I have access to places like..

So do I.

I've been a bit quiet recently because I've been dealing with a family bereavement. However, I expect to be back in business as soon as I've cleared a backlog of work matters that have built up as a result.
