Hey Nomad, you probably are going to have to check mark a "show" setting on the Filter menu. Click on the "Filter" button and you will see the attached window. I have a box around the check box you will need to check.

After I checked it I was able to get the app to show up as seen in the attached image.

There's no bug in the store, it is either your store settings as F l a t l a n d e r described or you are using an outdated version of the GCStore.
Try searching the forums for the newest (beta) version of the store. The standalones worked fine for me.

I agree.
You could probably have sold three times as many units at half the cost.
This is equal in price to FPSC itself, when considering the cost of upgrading the free version with the build function.
Alot of people will probably be faced with buying this or one of the more popular model packs if they have low budgets.
So, it seems that a lot of people might miss out on a very important tool for their FPSC arsenal.
I'm not complaining, because I will buy it anyway.
I just think that it could have served more people and made you more money if the price had been half as much.
When we look at the top downloads in the TGC Store, we will see that the FPSC Upgrade is the only one over $5. (hint hint)

The problem with price adjustments (I've made pricing mistakes too) is that if you lower the price then the people who have purchased already will feel like they got ripped off.
So, maybe you could have two versions, where one has less features.
Then you could have two prices, which would suit more budgets.

Just a thought,
Good luck, and thanks for a great FPSC tool!

Thanks for your post, Conjured Entertainment.

There is one main problem with the pricing: I'm sitting in Germany, and so get paid in €uro (or convert the currency, as I don't often buy something in $) - which makes it more expensive for people who pay in Dollars, especially these times where the US$ lost value.
I am aware of the high price of the GameStarter, but explain it with the wealth of features it has and the target market being more commercial games developers than people who want to create a 3-day-work kind of game for a friend.

I've been thinking of selling a light version with a few less features or restrictions, but until now I haven't taken any initiative.
But I will think of it further and see with what I come up, maybe there's an even more intelligent solution to this than just selling some "half price = half features" version.

Thanks again for your post and support,
rafleo

thanks for making this program. i plan on picking it up through trialpay or regular purchase eventually.

i've got very little interest in spending the time to code a visual basic menu that does all this stuff. while its plenty possible,
i'd rather just focus on the game and art.

and yeah it seems to include a lot of options that users have come
to expect from gaming. stuff like screen shots, resolution changes,
and changing key configurations. the more it looks like a store
bought piece of software the more open minded some people may be
about the game.

does this program change the .exe icon too? would be cool to add if not.

Thanks for your feedback, hugdealer.

Changing the executable's icon is on my 'to do-list'. It's been asked for a few times by now, but until now I focused more on eliminating bugs than rather than just adding new features. Also, there are quite a few tools around the net who do just that.
But I guess we can expect this feature to be available with the next version

Good.
I will wait for that version then.

Quote: "maybe there's an even more intelligent solution to this than just selling some "half price = half features" version"

Sure, I know that suggestion didn't require much thought, but it would be fair.
I wouldn't waste too much time giving it thought though, because adding a feature such as the one hugdealer suggested is much more important.
You might be better off adding the features to make it a better value at the current price than spending time developing new pricing strategies.
Whatever, it's a nice product and I want to get it, so thanks.

I was going to ask the same question.
If so, then I can buy now instead of waiting for the naming feature.

Quote: "Also, there are quite a few tools around the net who do just that."

Yeah, but all the ones I tried flaked out on my system for some reason or they had viruses detected in them when scanned prior to installation.

OK, to keep you guys posted:
I've been working yesterday and today on that changing icon thing, and it turns out this is rather complex.
I started changing icons of the game executables, but doing so corrupted them. After experimenting a bit, I found ways to replace the icons without damaging the file, but everything is kind of weird:
- sometimes, it will still display the old icon, and only renaming the exe makes it show the new one (weird, huh? - and changing back to original exe name will show old icon again)
- sometimes the exe will just be damaged. it starts up, is loaded into RAM and nothing more happens...

I will need more time to figure this one out, but hopefully I willget it done soon.

Just make windows refresh the thumbnail of the exe.

I have the same problem sometimes, also what code language are you using because in VB.Net this is fairly simple.

Good news everyone:
GameStarter and FPSC IP are going to be compatible!

Big thanks to knxrb who helped me get those information I needed.
The update for GameStarter will be released in a few days. It will fix a few UI glitches, two bugs and add a new feature.
Like all updates, this one will be free for users who already purchased the GameStarter.

Er, yes, you're right... The holidays have been separating me from my computer, so it is quite a while since I last posted...

Quote: "I would like to hear more about the details"

Here they are:
- Compatibility: The new update will bring compatibility for FPSC IP, meaning users can use both programs to enhance their games. Simply use GameStarter after having modified the game using FPSC IP.
- New feature (as requested): Changing a game's exe icon
- User Interface: some UI glitches have been fixed
- Bugfix: unnecessary usage of preloader
- Bugfix: 'remove GameStarter' failing to complete

Planned Realease Date: tomorrow
Cost: free for all GameStarter users (download instructions will follow)

For information about how to get the update, please contact me!

All about the compatibility with FPSC IP:
You can now use both FPSC IP and GameStarter on one game.
It is vital that you use FPSC IP first, an then add the GameStarter.
Nearly all features remain compatible, except:
- changing the game main exe's icon
- adding a preloader
This is due to the way FPSC IP works; it can and will not be changed.
Changing these settings will simply be ignored when adding GameStarter to a FPSC IP game.

To celebrate this step towards more compatibility, we have created an offer:

If you buy ANY additional FPSC IP features, you will receive a one-time discount on purchasing GameStarter. Click the image above for more information.
This offer does not work if you purchase GameStarter via the GCStore or TrialPay!

Hi

I am really interested in GameStarter but can I just ask one question - will this program compress my game and created and installer? I assume this is what it does but I just want to be 100% clear before buying - if I get this software will I need any other piece of software to offer my title as, say a downloadable game?

Many thanks

No, GameStarter will not create an installer or anything like it.

To make your game downloadable, you have two possibilities (at least those are the ones that come into my mind immediately):
- Put the whole game into a ZIP-file (so no installation or anything is required, and Windows can extract it without the need of any additional software)
- Nice and professional would be to use an installer such as NSIS (free!).

Good luck with your game!

Okay I bought this, and am very satisfied, but for some reason, yes I do have FPSC IP aswell, whenever I run the launcher it opens up my game twice. I have it on .7z compression, i fooled around with the compressions and that was the only one that worked without copying a lot of files

Mugen is the name pal, Ya got that?

You mean when you click on launch game it starts the game twice? Or does it start FPSC IP twice? Or both, game and FPSC IP?

Thanks for reporting, I'll have a look into that.
