i would try and make it like the doom 3 chainsaw, and ditch the reload, as if you had like a big fuel tank on ur back like the flamethrower on cod world at war. also, i would change the angle of the weapon when idle, cuz it looks more like your blocking.

EDIT: not trying to be negative about the idle animation. for the chain u should have an animated texture like on the x10 chugshot. Still love it, though. Now if only FPSC let you tear off lims...

Uh, animated textures aren't possible with FPSC. That was most likely just a rotating cylinder...

Just a suggestion from watching the video, ammo gets used real fast. Would there be a setting to change how fast you use ammo?

Change firerate to a higher value.

First, it's 'unlimited' and second, just set the clip size to '0' in the gunspec.

The ammo consumption can be adjusted through firerate like Toasty mentioned but the consumption rate needs to be artificially high or else the damage/raycast will be too intermittent (IMO).

Amazing model, well detailed. Nothing less then what i expect to come from EAI Looking forward to seeing it with the chain on. Btw is the ammo supposed to represent the chains sharpness or quality? So when you run out of ammo it breaks or sumting? If your going to use ammo for this chainsaw i think it would be a great idea to add a chain breaking off animation or something when you run out of ammo(if thats even possible) If only i could get my hands on your one of your guns like the m249 saw

Something like that

Something in the way my animation is set up and/or how FPSC blends animation is causing the chain to sometimes sort of jump off the guide so this is sort of stalled until I can resolve that. Ironically, right now I'm making NPC chainsaw animations. So, that means there is no way the player chainsaw will be scrapped... delayed, sure but not scrapped.

What are you doing for ammo... I KNOW, you should have oil caps or something, and reload by pulling the string. I have no idea how to pull this off for the enimies, because when they reload, they do'nt pull any strings they just reload like a gun.

Errant. I can edit a soundwave to have the attack of the chainsaw revving--- and then the idling afterwards, and I can make it long enough like 20 or 30 seconds then put a stalling sound at the end of the wave- noting that when the player attacks during the soundwave itll override with the idling and start the sound over

what you will have to do is show me a vid of the animation so i can match the sounds

I dont think he's sarcastic. You do make a lot of people annoyed by the things you say, so I dont blame him for not being sarcastic.

If Errant isnt replying, then its likely he isnt working on it at the moment so theres no point in bumping the thread.

I want the soldiers first but I want to be able to
use this because the Chainsaw Brute drops his chainsaw
after you kill him and it would be perfect be be able to pick one
up and use it after you kill him.

A strange, old chainsaw which never seems to need fuel but does consume a large quantity of spare parts in order to remain functioning. (this is because there's no way to stop the engine noise or vibration animation when out of "ammo" other than using "weaponisammo", which I hate- though it is an option if you prefer)

There are alternate idle and move animation included which do not include the engine vibration for developers who either don't like the shaking, want to script the vibration independently or who can code the chainsaw to run out of fuel.

Tip: The "ammo" entity is sort of high poly (around 600 tris) so don't go placing a bunch of them around your level. Instead, be creative and use random toolboxes or other tools/junk items and script them to give ammo to the player; you'll likely get better performance and it will make more sense to the player.

For allowing me to butcher their sounds. THe release version sounds a little better than in the vid but there's only so much I can achieve in FPSC. In stock FPSC the idle sound, etc will play but isn't as smooth and there is a noticable seam after "shooting" because of the fire sound getting clipped. There is also an attitional revving "layer" at the start of an attack which only mod users will hear.
